It aims to better understand DNA and its “impact on health outcomes” and to help “reduce health inequalities and level up patient outcomes across all communities”, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.

Story made me think of Q’s message to protect out DNA. So i did a little digging into the company doing this, Genomics England.

“As part of your care, or care of your relative, you have been offered a type of genomic testing through the NHS Genomic Medicine Service which involves whole genome sequencing. This means every letter of the 3 billion letters in your genome will be ‘read’ to create your unique genetic sequence. As well as being used for your clinical care, the data from your whole genome sequence is also useful for research.“

What could go wrong? Also found that Genome England is in Partnership with Wellcome Trust. The Wellcome Genome Campus is managed and operated by Genome Research Ltd (GRL), a Charity registered in England. GRL was established in 1992 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Wellcome Trust.
