GOP operative Brandon Phillips was arrested on allegations of kicking a dog, a report said.

He is the former executive director of the Fulton County Republican Party.

Phillips resigned as Trump's 2016 Georgia campaign chief after details of a past crime emerged.

 

A veteran Republican Georgia operative, Brandon Phillips, was arrested last month on allegations that he kicked and injured a dog, according to police records obtained by Politico.

 

The documents said Phillips was arrested on November 17 on misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty and held on a $1,200 bond.

 

The outlet said he paid and was released.

 

An affidavit accompanying the arrest warrant went into more detail. alleging that he kicked a dog belonging to a woman named Tifani Eledge.

 

It said he was wearing a boot at the time and cut the dog's stomach with the blow. The alleged attack took place on August 23 in Albany, Georgia, the records say.

 

Insider has contacted Phillips for comment on the alleged incident but did not immediately hear back.

 

Phillips is the former executive director of Fulton County Republican Party, and a political ally of GOP Rep. Mike Collins, who was elected to Congress in November.

 

According to Politico, Phillips is in the running to be Collins' chief of staff.

 

In 2016, Phillips resigned as the head of Donald Trump's Georgia campaign after reports emerged that he had faced charges in 2008 of battery and felony criminal damage, and had pleaded guilty to a criminal trespassing charges, WSBTV reported.

 

According to the report, he was placed on probation for 36 months and ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution.
