Look up ACES II, I don't know what all is publicly available but I literally, read the Technical Order for its operation, maintenance and repair because it was that f'ing interesting.
Also, look up WARS (Water Activated Restraint System) equally cool as shit.
It's a violent process, they claim the person will be approximately 1-1.5" shorter in stature post ejection for a period of time. They also get grounded because they can't risk needing to eject a second time until if/when their spine rebounds from the compression.
