It’s another Thursday afternoon in Los Angeles, and Chelsea Handler has just finished recording a new episode of her podcast. Her housekeeper, Mabel, a frequent presence in Handler’s Instagram skits, is packing Handler’s suitcase so that after her Variety photoshoot, she can jet off directly to the airport for a standup performance in Chicago, the latest in her 117-date “Vaccinated and Horny” tour, which launched during the pandemic and comes to a close this month.

Casually hanging with her glam team at home, Handler has ordered a dozen boxes of Domino’s — thin crust cheese — for the crew on-set. “Do you want a piece?” Handler asks, greeting me in her kitchen where she opens the fridge and lifts up a tub of grated parmesan. She also grabs a weed chocolate bar for one of her team members, and then casually asks if anyone wants some Ozempic from her fridge. Is she joking? Not at all. Well, maybe: Handler tells a story about how she recently tried Hollywood’s new weight loss drug — which is really meant for diabetes patients — when a doctor gave her the medication under a different name, she explains, without her realizing it was actually Ozempic. If you haven’t heard of Ozempic, it’s the latest worst-kept secret among the most vain and elite inner circles within showbiz, and Handler is obsessed with talking about it. If she had a talk show, that would definitely be one of her nightly hot topics.

“Apparently, it makes you lose your appetite,” Handler says, devouring her pizza. “But I like having an appetite. It made me nauseous, and I don’t like to be nauseous. Only in this fucking town.”

Not that she’s really a fan. Handler wouldn’t live here if she hadn’t put down roots for her career. She especially can’t stand Beverly Hills, where she’s currently renting a house while she builds a new home for herself. “Every corner you turn, you see the same face, and you don’t know if they’re 40 or 80,” she says. During the pandemic, Handler fled California for her happy place of Whistler, Canada where she day-dreamed about becoming a ski instructor. “I tried to skedaddle and wanted to get the hell out of dodge, just in case Donald Trump got elected again,” she says. It was during this time that Handler became inspired and wrote for her tour — which was filmed for her latest standup special, “Revolution,” coming to Netflix on Dec. 27. Her recent breakup from her ex-boyfriend, comedian Jo Koy, also contributed to her continued revolution of self-reflection.

“What I really discovered about myself during that time was how much I enjoyed the pleasure of my own company,” Handler says. “COVID taught me there is a lot of value in being able to spend time by yourself. “I just allowed myself to be in my house alone and I did whatever the fuck I wanted – and what I like to do is take drugs and read books.”

tripping balls ? no worries its just the flu

A mom and ER doctor says her 7-year-old daughter recently started hallucinating and hearing voices.

The pediatrician didn't panic, because she recognized her daughter's distress as a classic sign of infection.

Fevers, our body's attempt to fight viruses like the flu, can prompt brief periods of delirium.

One recent morning at 7 a.m., Kathryn MacKinlay realized her sick daughter Marissa was hallucinating.

"Mommy, Mommy, make it stop!" Marissa said. She described hearing people shouting unbearably.

MacKinlay tried to soothe her 7-year-old's fears: "Sweetie, no one is yelling."

The pediatrician was able to remain calm because she knew exactly what was happening to her daughter. Marissa was sick, with other flu-like symptoms. The hallucinations her little one was experiencing were the exact same kind of brief delirium that has filled up her hospital in recent weeks. It's a signal of the body's fight against a common, invading virus.

"As an emergency doctor, I have seen many other kids hallucinating these last few weeks," MacKinlay said in a recent blog post. "These young patients have all been influenza positive."

In the Canadian hospital where MacKinlay works, she said many sick children have recently been complaining of:

hearing loud sounds

seeing objects as too large or too far away

and feeling scared that someone or something is trying to hurt them

These are all classic signs of the delirium that can come along with the fevers our body uses to fight against infection.

Our brains are sensitive to temperature changes, so fevers can lead to hallucinations by disrupting normal activity. The episodes are generally brief, lasting just a few minutes, and do not require medical attention.

If a child's fever is higher than 104 degrees Fahrenheit, does not respond to treatment like Advil (ibuprofen) or Tylenol (acetaminophen), or if a patient is experiencing prolonged episodes of confusion (for more than a few minutes), it's time to seek help.

But in most cases, "your little one will be okay," MacKinlay said. Simply "offer cuddles" and wait for the feverish confusion to pass. The doctor recommends "alternating Advil and Tylenol every three hours" to bring the patient's fever down, which should, in turn, alleviate delirium episodes.

The mom and ER doctor is now happy to report that "we are back to playing in the snow and hearing no voices other than the shrieks of laughter of healthy kids."

reminds me a little bit of the vids with people seeing shit and dropping ded

Biden's Commerce Dept. silent on whether Hunter Biden’s former business partner will remain on advisory board

Story by Jessica Chasmar • Yesterday 4:10 PM

FIRST ON FOX: The U.S. Department of Commerce is staying silent on whether any action has been taken to remove a business executive from President Biden's Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA), after it was revealed he had previously worked as a senior adviser to Hunter Biden’s now-defunct investment firm.

Fox News Digital previously reported that John Nevergole, co-founder and CEO of the Philadelphia-based project development firm ABD Group, was tapped earlier this year to serve another term on the PAC-DBIA after he had previously strategized with Hunter on brokering multiple business deals in Western Africa while his father was vice president.

On July 14, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo reappointed Nevergole and 23 others to serve two-year terms on the PAC-DBIA from 2022 to 2024. Nevergole served his first term during the Trump administration after being appointed by then-Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

Nevergole and ABD Group Executive Chairman Mohamed Keita, the son-in-law of former Malian President Amadou Toumani Toure, co-founded ABD Group over 15 years ago, and they currently promote their company as a "trusted partner to investors, multi-national firms and African governments" with "over $2.5 billion USD of investment across the continent."

"Today ABD Group has a presence on the ground to develop projects in every major market in West, Central, East, and Southern Africa. Partners include Fortune 500 companies and the world’s largest emerging market investors," the firm's website reads. An archived version of the ABD website highlights that they were "happy to have worked with" China’s state-owned China Development Bank and China Airport Construction Corporation (CACC), among other corporations. CNN Philippines reported in 2020 that the state-owned CACC was one of the subsidiaries of the China Communications Construction Company that had been "blacklisted" by the Trump administration.

An archived version of the website also shows that Hunter Biden was listed as a member of ABD’s board of advisers for several years until his bio was removed sometime between Jan. 23 and May 29 in 2019, according to the Wayback Machine. While Nevergole was serving as the CEO of ABD, he was simultaneously serving as a senior adviser to Rosemont Seneca Advisors as early as 2012. However, it appears that his association with Rosemont Seneca in his ABD bio was erased from the website sometime shortly after March 2019.

Nevergole’s relationship with Hunter Biden dates back to at least 2011, according to emails reviewed and verified by Fox News Digital. In an Aug. 5, 2011, email chain, Eric Schwerin, then-president of Hunter's Rosemont Seneca Advisors, informed Hunter that Nevergole had requested to split a retainer fee 70/30 for helping to broker a deal between Rosemont and Brazilian construction giant OAS.

After Hunter pushed back on arrangement, Schwerin, who was also a member of ABD’s board of advisers for several years, argued, "So, I am OK with 70/30.… Mainly because I think the relationship can bear fruit in other areas down the line, e.g. in Africa if we choose to focus there."

GOP lawmaker's QAnon-style smear of Katie Porter debunked by CNN fact checker

However, as CNN fact checker Daniel Dale demonstrates, Jackson's claim is completely false, as Porter never once suggested that pedophilia wasn't a crime.

The origin of the smear against Porter came as she was decrying posts on social media that accused LGBTQ Americans in general of being "groomers" of children.

"The ‘groomer’ narrative is an age-old lie to position LGBTQ people as a threat to kids," Porter said while questioning Kelley Robinson, the president of the Human Rights Campaign. "And it’s not – this allegation of ‘groomer’ and of ‘pedophile,’ it is alleging that a person is criminal somehow, and engaged in criminal acts, merely because of their identity, their sexual orientation, their gender identity."

As Dale notes, it is clear that Porter believes child sexual abuse is criminal behavior, and is simply saying that is wrong to conflate such behavior with gay or transgender Americans.

"Porter is being baselessly described as a supporter of pedophilia over comments in which she was denouncing how other people are being baselessly described as pedophiles," Dale writes.

Nonbinary ex-Biden official Sam Brinton helped craft policy to hide student sex changes from parents

Story by Gabe Kaminsky • Yesterday 10:15 AM

Sam Brinton, the nonbinary ex-Energy Department nuclear waste official facing major prison time, once helped a nonprofit group craft a model school policy adopted in several states that tells schools to hide alleged gender identity or sexual orientation changes from "unaffirming" parents.

Between 2017 and 2020, Brinton was head of advocacy and government affairs at the Trevor Project, an LGBT group focused on youth suicide prevention, according to Brinton's LinkedIn. In 2019, Brinton played a role in developing a 37-page booklet titled "Model School District Policy on Suicide Prevention," which puts restrictions on how much teachers can talk to parents or guardians if their LGBT child is suicidal.

"While parents and guardians need to be informed and actively involved in decisions regarding the student’s welfare, the school mental health professional should ensure that the parents’ actions are in the best interest of the student (e.g., when a student is LGBTQ and living in an unaffirming household)," read the model, which was also published by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the American School Counselor Association, and the National Association of School Psychologists.

Brinton, a biological male who identifies as nonbinary and was the first purported nonbinary person to work as a top Energy Department official, faces up to 15 years in prison. The former official oversaw a $45 million budget and 100 federal government staff members in his short time at the Energy Department.

State education departments in Arizona, Idaho, and Virginia have adopted the Trevor Project's model policy in full or partially. In addition, so have school districts in places such as Oregon, California, and New Hampshire.
