On the Google Earth desktop/PC version there is a time slider near the lower left of the GE image that gives month and date of the various images shown. Once you click the button a slider pops up near the top left that you can adjust to imagery going back 20 years or more in some cases. I've noticed that the number of images available changes with the zoom level. Also, from time to time they drop some images and some images are just blurry messes.
