Chairman Thompson: [President Trump] chose to try to stay in office through a multi-part scheme, to overturn the results, and block the transfer of power. In the end, he summoned a mob to Washington, and knowingly they were armed and angry, pointed them to the Capitol, and told them to fight like hell. There is no doubt about this.
Cheney: Tens of millions of Americans had been persuaded by President Trump that the 2020 election was stolen by overwhelming fraud. And we also knew this was flatly false. We knew that dozens of state and federal judges had addressed and resolved all manner of allegations about the elections.
[a knowingly false statement]
Cheney: No man who would behave that way, at that moment in time, can ever serve in any position of authority in our nation again. He is unfit for any office…prosecutors are considering implications of the conduct that we described in our report.
[Cheney knows she faces serious prison time and is terrified]
Lofgren: Donald Trump knowingly and corruptly repeated election frud lies, which incited his supporters to violence on January 6th. He continues to repeat this meritless claim that the election was stolen, even today, and continues to erode our most cherished and shared belief, of free and fair elections.
Schiff: Building on his constant repetition of the big lie, President Trump engaged in an unprecedented effort to obstruct the joint session on January 6th.
Schiff: [President Trump] oversaw an effort to obtain and transmit false electoral ballots to congress and the National Archives. The false ballot were created by fake republican electors on December 14th…these intentionally false documents were transmitted to multiple offices of the federal government, and were intended to interfere with the proper conduct of the joint session.
Murphy: Despite having knowing of the threats of violence presented by the crowd gathered on January 6th, President Trump gave an incendiary speech, declaring without basis that the election had been stolen, and encouraging his supporters to fight like hell.
Luria: The mob wanted what President Trump wanted, impede the peaceful transition of power.
[false- multiple senators planned to object to certification, something Trump would not have wanted stopped]
Luria: President Trump lit the flame, he poured gasoline on the fire, and sat by in the White House dining room for hours, watching the fire burn. And today, he still continues to fan those flames. That was his extreme dereliction of duty.
Raskin: The criminal statues we invoke the referral therefore [against President Trump and others]:
-Obstruction of an Official Proceeding
-Conspiracy to Defraud the United States
-Conspiracy to Make a False Statement
-Incite, Assist, or Aid or Comfort to an Insurrection
[the committee itself is guilty of being Accessories to Overthrow The Government]
Raskin: We are reffing four members of congress for appropriate sanction to the House Ethics Committee for failure to comply with lawful subpoenas.
Unanimous vote to recommend criminal referrals of President Trump and others.
Kinzinger looked terrible; hair unkempt and looked like he didn't even bother to shave,
Jean-Pierre: What we saw on January 6th was the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.
Jean-Pierre: The removal of Title 42 does not mean the border is open. Anyone who suggests otherwise is simply doing the work of the smugglers, who, again, are spreading misinformation, which is very dangerous,
Jean-Pierre: We have secured more resources for the border than any president who preceded this current president…seizing record amounts of fentanyl…taking thousands of smugglers off the street.
Reporter: Will [Biden] welcome those who left the service, or refused to get vaccinated, if they now say 'I want to serve the United States Military'?
Jean-Pierre: That is something the Department of Defense has to decide on specific service members…they have a process; we will let them run that process.
Jean-Pierre: [Biden] believes that our democracy is still under attack.
