March in Kyiv demanding Poroshenko's resignation
Kyiv, February 18 - RIA Novosti. A rally of supporters of Mikheil Saakashvili is taking place in Kyiv demanding the resignation of President Petro Poroshenko.
"Law enforcement officers keep order during the protests in Kyiv… In total, about three thousand police officers and National Guard soldiers entered the service in the capital," the National Police said in a Facebook post.
Cynologists and explosives technicians are also on duty in the center of Kyiv.
Supporters of the ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili during the action will demand the resignation of Poroshenko, as well as re-elections to the Verkhovna Rada.
In addition, Ukrainian radicals intend to hold a veche in the center of Kyiv on the occasion of the anniversary of the events on the Maidan, and then march to the building of Rossotrudnichestvo in order to "stop" its activities.
Protesters' demands
Actions of Saakashvili's supporters since October last year were regularly held near the building of the Verkhovna Rada. Each time, several thousand people gathered at them. Initially, they demanded an electoral reform, the removal of parliamentary immunity and the adoption of a law on an anti-corruption court
Now activists are in favor of passing a law on the impeachment of the president. Also, the marchers on Sunday for the first time will demand early elections to the Verkhovna Rada. The march program says that the new parliament should have "300 new deputies, independent of political forces and oligarchs, with a term of office of one year."
The march of Saakashvili's supporters will be held for the first time without the politician himself. On Monday, he was detained by employees of the State Border Service in one of the restaurants in Kyiv and expelled to Poland, from whose territory he illegally entered Ukraine in September last year.
