When AI and Robotics eliminate a majority of the worforce, what is that going to leave humanity in terms of commerce, ie., motivation to be productive members of society?

If the push is to return currency to a state where inflation is a thing of the past (think national income backed by resources/exports), then UBI might actually end up happening (to an extent) in order to guarantee that there's commerce at all. Otherwise, the population will be relegated to trade/barter for things like food/clothing/shelter.

I can use this AI to write essentially any script I need to perform job duties in the IT World. The entire world is based on a services-oriented economy, so instead of working a million-dollar deal to contract work out to an IT firm, I'll just have my local techie bang out a script to run in a test environment and save myself tons of money and expense.

This is going to put people out of work.

How are gov'ts/humanity going to adapt/overcome?

That's why we're at such a critical juncture, right now.

And yes, I believe the release of this, and other technologies to come, are all definitely, 100% part of the plan.
