anon loves this Pig
a long, long time ago, anon was driving to work at the mall (still in h.s.) and noticed a pure white cat walking on the side of the road
anon slowed down and honked, noting that the cat did not respond to the noise of the car or the horn
anon pulled over and stopped
got out and approached the cat, which looked up at anon
it had crystal blue eyes, like tourmalines
anon picked up the cat and put it in the car and took it home (blowing off work)
turns out the cat was deaf as a doornail, as the saying goes
and had been declawed, much to anon's horror
anon's family welcomed the cat and made it comfy
anon made flyers and posted them all over town
no one ever called
meanwhile, the cat developed a strong bond with anon's dad
would hang out with him in the basement, observing the tinkerings
the winemaking and ski tuning and pipe smoking
when dad came upstairs to sit in his recliner, the cat would come and sit in his lap, drooling and purring loudly
we named him Beethoven, because deafness
dad loved Christmas more than anything
Beethoven loved dad more than anything
my dad sobbed for days when the cat passed away years later
anon loves Mr. Pig because anon misses dad and Beethoven
