There is no doubt that these tactics are employed and you are correct in recognizing a pattern that has played out in many instances but it is not the only use case there is. There are legit people who do and have done God's work but it is true that they are becoming an exception now a days. I have known people who fed the poor, worked in conflict and non conflict zones, who cried to me that they just can't handle it anymore and just wanted to give up on humanity. There is nothing more that the DS would love to see is an end to these people so please stop painting with a broad brush, say many not all.
