It was not necessary. 2. Yes, you are right, abused by both - though at some point when it’s used as a weapon to make it hard for folks who stay & easy for folks who leave… some folks (not I) gave in. 3. It’s unconstitutional. 4. It encouraged lying, officially.

This is likely the last bill on which members will be able to vote by proxy. House Republicans have vowed to reverse it.
Two things are true: It was necessary during the worst part of the pandemic. It has been abused by members of both parties for a long time.

BREAKING: In a blatant Friday evening news dump going into Christmas weekend, the federal government has released the November border numbers.
CBP reports 233,740 migrant encounters, the highest November ever recorded, and a large increase over last November (174,845).

A reminder, these numbers do not include known gotaways. CBP sources tell us there were at least 73,000 known gotaways in the month of November alone. These are people who are detected or seen, but there is no manpower to get to them for capturer.
