PLAY THEM AT THEIR OWN GAME?
The Republicans should have wheeled in a group of willing people off the street into the Senate to vote down the Omnibus Bill.
The argument for them voting would go something like this;
"We found these Republican "Senators" outside the chamber. We don't know who they are, when they were elected or what States they represent, but we believe they are "legitimate" and think they should be entitled to vote on this Bill so we are including their votes in the tally."
The Republicans could win every vote with this tactic.
I'm sure the Dems wouldn't object, it would make perfect sense to them.
