Economic Schedule for Week of December 25, 2022

 

The key indicator this week is Case-Shiller House Prices for October. The farcical GDPNOW estimates was raised yesterday a full 1% from 2.7% to 3.7% by "good cop" KANGZZ Bostic at the Atlanta FED.

 

Latest estimate: 3.7 percent — December 23, 2022

 

The GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the fourth quarter of 2022 is 3.7 percent on December 23, up from 2.7 percent on December 20. After recent releases from the US Census Bureau, the US Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the National Association of Realtors, the nowcasts of fourth-quarter real personal consumption expenditures growth and fourth-quarter real gross private domestic investment growth increased from 3.4 percent and -0.2 percent, respectively, to 3.6 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.

9:00 AM ET: S&P/Case-Shiller House Price Index for October.

 

The consensus is for an 8.0% year-over-year increase in the Composite 20 index for October.

 

10:30 AM: Dallas Fed Survey of Manufacturing Activity for December.

 

  • Wednesday, December 28th -

7:00 AM ET: The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) will release the results for the mortgage purchase applications index.

10:00 AM: Pending Home Sales Index for November. The consensus is for a 0.5% decrease in the index.

10:00 AM: Richmond Fed Survey of Manufacturing Activity for December. This is the last of regional manufacturing surveys for December.

 

  • Thursday, December 29th -

8:30 AM: The initial weekly unemployment claims report will be released. The consensus is for 224 thousand initial claims, up from 216 thousand last week.

 

  • Friday, December 30th -

9:45 AM: Chicago Purchasing Managers Index for December.
