I don't necessarily agree with the premise that the discovery of salvation is in the truthful individual came from the New Testament. I'd say the New Testament bolstered that idea (i.e. Judeo Christian values).
I'd say that premise is taught in Genesis:
1) Inverse: The lying individual is damned - Adam & Eve
2) Abraham cursed by those around him, he knows he himself is saved through his ''individual'' faith in his Father.

He might be misguided or not have evolved thinking on a particular topic, but he has a clear understanding of Western Civilization, its' origins and where its headed and most importantly HOW it can be saved.
As for the University he taught at, I'm sure there are rotten components. Does one tear down or does one remodel? This isn't a 2 year operation.

When students return to West Point for the spring semester, they will no longer see Confederate monuments and images on campus. Workers at West Point will remove items on campus linked to the Confederacy during the holiday break, including a portrait of Robert E. Lee in the school library.
