Douglas Noel Adams decades ago wrote "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" which was a book about space aliens, and featured prominently the number, 42 – the answer to the question of life, the universe, and everything.

Today, illegal aliens are being stopped - by, title 42!

"speed of sound" caught anon's eye.

the propagation of different wave forms move at differing speeds, in differing media (solid, liquid, air, plasma, etc).

does the dome above us have other effects, in addition to keeping "the waters above," above? perhaps, on the air, some sort of compression or the inverse, increased "vacuum"? (of course it'd be vacuum inside the dome, in terms of inversion…)

might there be a raised "speed limit" for lights and sounds, outside of the dome? (or, perhaps, a "reduced" speed limit if the air is more dense out there?)
