"I did not think that Putin would…." - and simply by using those words, you have proven J Mearsheimer as 100% correct. You are so naïve, ill-informed and essentially intellectually/emotionally childish it's actually repulsive. Grow up.

Very good that the interviews are published monthly later after the debate. Now in retrospect we see even clearer how easily the audience were fooled to buy cheap moralizing talks. That's a human soft spot and we fall into that trap over and over, to the manipulators.

And he shows how American neolibs and neocons use education institutes to academically qualify their uneducated politician's, by giving them a position. He makes an assumption of Putin not being coordinated with the majority of Russians by saying "millions of Russia s, among them oligarchs are against this. Let's examine that:
-
Both after occupying Crimea and after February 24th this year, American supported polls showed a boost in popularity for Putin, till more than 85%. Can you name an American president in office with that support?
-
Let's take his words of millions against Putin on face value. There are roughly 120 millions Russian adults. If 86% of them supporters of Putin, 4% undecided and just 10% against him, you will anyhow have 12 millions against him. Does that mean anything if 10% of people are against government and 90% for it? How is the legitimity of Biden by your words two third of Americans or 180 million potential voters would kick Biden out of office, provided a sign of democracy in USA!!!!

He is a big part of 2014 American Nazi coup, someone living on russophobia, and puts forward claims he can't and won't provide evidence for. Is Russia more brutal than your what you did in Libya, in coordination with Alqaida? How and where? Has Russia armed neonazis and Bandera fascists NATO observator Baud explains? And that attempt of canceling historic facts of cooperation between usa and Nazis, which is on tape (both Nuland and Biden are caught on tape about) and explaining with Putin's intention and what aboutsome taken out of context, without referring to his words saying that Ukraine is and must be independent, and to reestablish Soviet union is a crazy idea!

The Russians have a good example, American intervention in Iraq. If they did what Americans did in Iraq at the beginning of the war, the war would be over by now. The hypocrisy of this gentleman is astounding. Hard to believe that he himself believes in what he is saying.

What a despicable excuse for a human! Having had him as Ambassador to Russia clarifies why Russia & NATO are at war in Ukraine.

I think Mr McFaul should keep his mouth closed until he reads Putin's speeches… they are all there, translated to English on the Kremlin website. His totally incorrect view of Putin's intentions is a joke. Rather than make up this fictitious dream world reality, which the vast majority of the collective West seem to be joining him in these days, maybe he should tell the truth for once. Instead he seems happy to stick to "the script" he has been told to say.

I expect he wants the tape deleted now.

Rather than rationalizing Putin as someone who wants to occupy Ukraine, why not simply listen to the times the Russians drew their red lines on NATO expansion? Remember in the debate, Michael says that in the real world, we don't mean the things we say in diplomacy. That statement floored me. How they won that debate is largely due to nationalism since we're not as likely to point the finger at ourselves. Instead we're doubling down on war, and it's more correct to say we're doubling down on using the Ukranians to bleed the Russians because no ones messes with the liberal order.>McFaul
