"pole flip" is a misleading description of the earth's magnetic field reversal. the entire magnetic dipole collapses into a checkerboard of alternating field orientations that then reorganizes into a dipole with the opposite orientation. the process takes over 1000 yrs, and already began a couple of centuries ago. it's fairly well understood at this point.

field reversals are NOT cataclysmic. you didn't even notice that one is currently underway. the only observable signs will be the aurorae will extend further from the poles. and if you have the equipment to make a measurment, the solar UV reaching the ground will increase. other than that, bupkis. since it's happened every 200,000 yrs on average, and there is NO EVIDENCE of corresponding cataclysms, i'd say you're superstitious beliefs are clearly disproven.
