How would I know? Maybe you had another resident in your home, unknown to yourselves. Did you have mice, rats or other critters? Did the typewriter typings make sense?

The Wesley's reportedly had a poltergeist in their house. God used the situation, I think, to make the spiritual world real to the famous Wesleys.

Here is a story about an unsung Wesley: https://www.umc.org/en/content/susanna-wesley-mother-of-methodism

Something was sure going on. The funny thing is your comment reminds me of other phenomenon I've either observed or heard about in manufacturing settings. All the devices that apparently operated "by themselves" I can think of used electricity, but would have apparently needed force to operate.

If you are a Christian have you prayed about this and/or sought deliverance?

Seems like being alone would be the hardest part. Relationship is more important than anything else for human survival I think.
