Suspect Behind NYPD New Year’s Eve Attack Was on FBI Radar – Trevor Bickford a Recent Convert to Islam
A rookie NYPD officer was stabbed in the head Saturday night near Times Square amid New Year’s Eve celebrations.
A second NYPD officer was struck with a pipe or a blunt object.
The suspect was shot by police and taken into custody.
The police officer was rushed to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.
According to the New York Post, the injured police officer was a rookie on his first day on the job.
The suspect, 19-year-old Trevor Bickford of Wells, Maine, was shot in the shoulder and taken to a nearby hospital.
According to FOX News Trevor Bickford was on the FBI radar and recently converted to Islam.
A high-level police source also tells Fox News Digital that Bickford was being watched by the FBI’s counterterrorism task force in the weeks leading up to Saturday’s attack. The source also said Bickford recently converted to Islam and a tipster claimed he had expressed interest in going to Afghanistan.
The first cop, a rookie on his first night of policing, was slashed in the head, prompting another nearby officer to shoot Bickford. That officer was also struck, but he was not seriously injured. The first officer, identified by authorities only as Paul, is expected to recover.
Meanwhile, the FBI is rounding up Trump supporters who were standing outside the US Capitol two years after the Jan. 6 protests.

Democrat Gov. Hochul Legalizes Composting Human Remains in New York
Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation on Saturday that legalizes human composting.
New York is now the sixth state in the nation that has legalized the practice.
The bill was introduced by Democrat State Assembly Member Amy Paulin and Democrat State Sen. Leroy Comrie. It states that “Natural Organic Reduction accelerates the process of biological decomposition in an above-ground container, naturally converting human remains to soil. The method will provide New Yorkers with the option of choosing an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective alternative to burial and cremation. Natural Organic Reduction was legalized in Washington State in 2019 and is currently going through legislative efforts in other states.”
The process takes 60 days and works by placing a person’s remains in a vessel and filling it with a mix of wood chips, alfalfa, and straw.
The New York State Catholic Conference has vehemently opposed the bill.
“Composting is something we as a society associate with a sustainable method of eliminating organic trash that otherwise ends up in landfills. But human bodies are not household waste, and the bishops do not believe that the process meets the standard of reverent treatment of our earthly remains,” Dennis Poust, executive director of the New York State Catholic Conference, told the Catholic Courier.
“Like most bills in Albany, there were no public hearings allowing New Yorkers to weigh in on the pros and cons of the bill. It was all done behind closed doors,” Poust added. “The average New Yorker has no idea this bill was introduced, let alone passed. While it has been covered here and there in the press, it has received very little attention, which is troubling, because we certainly think that new methods of disposition of human remains ought to be talked about in society, and the public should have a chance to consider if this is a direction we want to go.”
In a statement about the bill issued on June 1, the New York State Catholic Conference said, “while not everyone shares the same beliefs with regard to the reverent and respectful treatment of human remains, we believe there are a great many New Yorkers who would be uncomfortable at best with this proposed composting/fertilizing method, which is more appropriate for vegetable trimmings and eggshells than for human bodies.”
A Seattle funeral home that composts humans, Recompose, charges $7,000 and boasts that they can turn the deceased into soil in “as little as 30 days.”
The funeral home’s website explains that they offer a “laying in” ceremony when the body is placed in a vessel to compost.
“When you arrive at Recompose Seattle, you will be greeted by a member of our Services team who will guide you to the Gathering Space. Your person’s body will be in view when you walk into the Gathering Space, laying on a dark green bed we call a cradle, draped in a natural cloth,” the website explains.” The cradle will be stationed in front of our white, hexagonal threshold vessel, which is a passageway to our vessel system. A Recompose Services Specialist will guide you through the ceremony from start to finish.”
The company claims that “for every person who chooses Recompose over conventional burial or cremation, one metric ton of carbon dioxide is prevented from entering the atmosphere. In addition, our approach to human composting requires 1/8 the energy of conventional burial or cremation. Recompose allows you to choose an end-of-life option that strengthens the environment rather than depleting it.”

Ukraine exacts revenge on Israel at UN – Axios
The media outlet claims Kiev refused to oppose a pro-Palestinian resolution after Israel declined to provide weapons to the country
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has made his country’s support for Israel at the UN contingent on the nation providing Kiev with air defense systems, the news website Axios has claimed. After not receiving any firm commitments from newly reinstated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ukrainian representatives allegedly opted not to oppose a recent anti-Israel resolution.
In its report on Saturday, Axios cited unnamed Ukrainian and Israeli officials as saying the two leaders held a phone conversation on Friday. Netanyahu supposedly asked Zelensky to vote against, or at least abstain from voting on a UN General Assembly resolution that called on the International Court of Justice to issue a legal opinion on Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories.
That conversation was reportedly preceded by Kiev’s refusal to oppose the document during a UN committee vote several weeks ago, according to Axios.
The article claimed that during the phone call, Zelensky made it clear that Ukraine could change its position if Netanyahu pledged military assistance to Kiev amid its conflict with Russia.
While Netanyahu allegedly said he was ready to discuss “Zelensky’s requests in the future,” the Israeli prime minister stopped short of making any firm commitment, Axios reported.
According to the outlet, the Ukrainian head of state was not satisfied with that response, and instructed his UN envoy not to attend the vote at all. A Ukrainian official claimed the decision was made “in order to give a chance to the relationship with Netanyahu,” the US news outlet claimed.
Netanyahu’s office confirmed to Axios that the phone call took place, but refused to provide details regarding its contents.
The UN resolution was adopted on Friday with the support of 87 countries. A total of 26 nations voted against, and 53 abstained.
In early November, then Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz explained that the country could not supply its Iron Dome air defense system to Ukraine as it did not “have a large enough production base” to satisfy an export market as well as its own needs.
Kiev has repeatedly requested military aid from Israel, with special emphasis on air defense. Ukrainian officials say the weapons would be a great help in the country’s efforts to counter what it believes to be Iranian drones deployed by Moscow.
Both Russia and Iran, for their part, deny such UAVs are being used by Moscow’s troops.

The United Nations General Assembly on Friday passed a resolution asking the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to evaluate the legality of Israel's “prolonged occupation, settlement and annexation of Palestinian territory.”
In a video message, Prime Minister Benjamin Netayahu was quick to condemn the UN vote as a "despicable decision" that has no bearing on Israel – a government that sprang into existence in 1948 in the wake of a UN General Assembly recommendation to partition Palestine.
"The Jewish people are not occupiers in their own land nor occupiers in our eternal capital Jerusalem and no UN resolution can distort that historical truth," said Netanyahu.
Friday's UN resolution also asks the ICJ to give an advisory opinion on Israeli "measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character and status of the Holy City of Jerusalem, and from its adoption of related discriminatory legislation and measures."
Jewish settlers and Israeli authorities have been intensifying their efforts to push Palestinians out of occupied East Jerusalem, with the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah emerging as a particular flash point.

The most popular party in Switzerland, the Swiss People’s Part (SVP), known for its agrarian roots and opposition to mass immigration, is set to pursue a referendum calling for the renegotiation of international treaties, or even their complete abandonment, if the Swiss population hits 10 million.

Many European nations are among the most densely populated nations in the world and life in them is only expected to become more crowded in the near future unless dramatic action is taken. “Our country is cracking in every corner. We are going through the debacles of recent years. If we don’t intervene, we will be overtaken by events,” said Marcel Dettling, the SVP’s campaign manager.
Dettling warns that economic migration remains high, especially from groups known for their difficulty integrating into Switzerland, a fact highlighted by Switzerland’s alarming prison population data.
“Today, there is very strong economic migration,” says Dettling.
“Whoever has set foot in Switzerland will never leave the country. Migrants from Africa have welfare rates of 34 percent.”

Millionaire pharma exec Gigi Jordan — who killed 8-year-old son — found dead inside NYC home in possible suicide
Gigi Jordan, the millionaire pharmaceutical executive convicted of manslaughter in the death of her 8-year-old son, was found dead inside her Brooklyn home in what cops are investigating as a possible suicide, The Post has learned.
Her body was found around 12:30 a.m. Friday at her apartment in in Stuyvesant Heights, according to sources — just hours after US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued an order that was expected to send Jordan, 62, back to prison.
The cause of death has yet to be determined, but sources said a note was found at the scene.
It marks what may be the final chapter in a long tale full of bizarre twists and turns.
Jordan was accused of force-feeding her autistic son, Jude Mirra, a lethal dose of pills in February 2010 inside a luxury suite at the Peninsula Hotel.
During a strange six-week trial, Jordan’s defense lawyers argued she killed the boy while in a state of extreme emotional disturbance, fearing he was about to be murdered by her ex-husband.
A Manhattan jury acquitted her of the top murder count, but found Jordan guilty of manslaughter in 2014.
Jordan was sentenced to 18 years in prison — but a federal judge tossed her conviction in 2020 over a procedural misstep.
The trial judge had briefly sealed the courtroom over the objection of Jordan’s lawyers and US Magistrate Judge Sarah Cave ruled that while the error hadn’t harmed Jordan’s case, her Sixth Amendment right to a fair trial had been violated.
Jordan was sprung from prison Dec. 9, 2020 after serving more than 10 years of her sentence. At the time, Cave ordered her released to home confinement on a $250,000 bond as her case played out.
On Thursday, Sotomayor issued an order reversing a previous one from Dec. 20 allowing Jordan to remain free on bail while the high court weighed her appeal, Law & Crime reported.

Fauci Stepping Down as Head of NIAID After 40 Years
Dr. Anthony Fauci stepped down from his government positions on Saturday after serving as the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for decades, and more recently, as the White House’s COVID-19 chief adviser.
Earlier this year, Fauci confirmed that he would be stepping down from his federal positions but is not retiring.
“At the end of this month,” NIAID said in a statement in December, “Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of NIAID, will step down from the role he’s held since 1984.” It included a quote from Fauci that read, “While I am moving on from my current positions, I am not retiring. After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field.”
Several days before his retirement, Fauci told The Guardian, referring to the COVID-19 response, that the “only thing I can say is that we tried our best given our best judgment and our analysis of what was going on around us to make recommendations.”
“I don’t think anybody got it completely 100-percent right but the idea to say that you should have not put any restrictions on anything at a time when there was a tsunami of infections and New York City hospitals were getting overrun, practically—think of Elmhurst hospital, remember those pictures of the cooler trucks with bodies piling up in that—you had to do something pretty significant to slow that down,” he said.
Fauci took over NIAID in 1984 under the Reagan administration. Before that, he had worked in various positions in the federal government since the 1960s.
But it wasn’t until 2020 that Fauci, 82, became a household name in the United States. When Republicans secured the majority in the House in Novembers elections, several incoming committee chairs have promised to hold public hearings on Fauci’s former agency and said they would subpoena the doctor. In his final White House news conference, Fauci told reporters that he would comply with the investigation.

SWEDEN: Immigrant Kids Outnumber Swedes In Major City, Swedish Now Minority Language In Schools
Researchers suggest not using Swedish in schools, as children learn easier in their native language.
Two thirds of children in the Swedish city of Malmö are from immigrant backgrounds, with researchers suggesting that Swedish should not be used in schools to aid in their education.
According to a new report from the city, as part of their integration “Growth Commission,” over two-thirds of children aged between 5 and 19 are from an immigrant background, either being born abroad, or born domestically with at least one parent from another country. Almost half of all residents (48%) are younger than 35.
Statistics on the city’s website show that for Malmö residents born outside of Sweden, the most common country of birth is Iraq, with over 11,675 living in the city. Other common countries of birth include Syria (8,669), Denmark (7,485), Poland (6,619), and Bosnia-Herzegovina (6,374). Around 4000-5000 people each are from Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Iran.
The new report, prepared by Erica Righard, an associate professor at the Department of Social Work and a research fellow at Malmö Institute for Studies of Migration, Diversity and Welfare, notes that Swedish is now, as a result, a minority language in schools.

Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan Chase are asking a federal court to throw out lawsuits that claim the big banks should have seen evidence of sex trafficking by Jeffrey Epstein, the high-flying financier who killed himself in jail while facing criminal charges.
The banks said in filings late Friday they didn’t commit any negligent acts that caused harm to the women who filed the lawsuits and that the lawsuits failed to show that they benefitted from Epstein’s sex trafficking.
The filings in federal district court in New York came about a month after two women who were both identified as Jane Doe sued the banks and the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands, where Epstein had a home on a small island that he owned.
The lawsuits, which seek class-action status to represent other Epstein victims, claim that the banks knowingly benefitted from Epstein’s sex trafficking and “chose profit over following the law” to earn millions of dollars from the financier.
They suggested that the banks should have steered clear of Epstein after his 2006 arrest in Florida — he eventually pleaded guilty to state charges of soliciting prostitution — and fallout from a federal investigation and news coverage.
“Without the financial institution’s participation, Epstein’s sex-trafficking scheme could not have existed or flourished,” the lawsuits claim.
JPMorgan Chase said Friday that the Jane Doe in its case “is entitled to justice … But this lawsuit against JPMC is directed at the wrong party, is legally meritless, and should be dismissed.”
Deutsche Bank said it provided “routine banking services” to Epstein from 2013 to 2018, and the lawsuit “does not come close to adequately alleging that Deutsche Bank … was part of Epstein’s criminal sex trafficking ring.”

Amid rising antisemitism, Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt warns that historical precedent indicates Jewish community will be blamed for country’s problems
Moscow’s exiled former chief rabbi, Pinchas Goldschmidt, has warned Russian Jews that they may become scapegoats for hardships brought on by Moscow’s sputtering war in Ukraine, and encouraged them to leave the country.
In an interview with Britain’s The Guardian, Goldschmidt said there was historical precedent that shows the Jewish community could end up being blamed.
“When we look back over Russian history, whenever the political system was in danger you saw the government trying to redirect the anger and discontent of the masses towards the Jewish community,” he said. “We saw this in tsarist times and at the end of the Stalinist regime.”
“We’re seeing rising antisemitism while Russia is going back to a new kind of Soviet Union, and step by step the iron curtain is coming down again. This is why I believe the best option for Russian Jews is to leave,” he said.
Goldschmidt resigned from his position and left Moscow in July.
“Pressure was put on community leaders to support the war, and I refused to do so. I resigned because to continue as chief rabbi of Moscow would be a problem for the community because of the repressive measures taken against dissidents,” he said.
Last October, Goldschmidt encouraged Russian Jews to flee the country after a Moscow official labeled the Chabad Hasidic sect a supremacist cult. Since July, Russia and Israel have been engaged in a legal dispute over Moscow’s attempts to shutter the Russian branch of the Jewish Agency, a quasi-governmental organization that promotes immigration of Jews to Israel.
According to the Swiss-born Goldschmidt, since the beginning of the invasion in March 2022, 25 to 30 percent of Jews in Russia have left or are planning to leave.
Today, Russia’s Jewish population numbers about 165,000 out of a total population of 145 million.

Anti-Semitism on Twitter is nothing new. Far from it. In fact, the founder and former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, once tweeted me directly that his team would handle the abuse I saw on the platform. That was many years ago. Not much has changed.
I know you’ve probably heard about it, and if you’re on Twitter, maybe you’ve experienced it. Just to illustrate how bad it is: On every Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day) since my brother Ari was murdered, I get endless repulsive tweets.
To name one of hundreds, someone on Twitter sent me a picture of Ari with flames coming out of him and blood everywhere. The image was captioned, “May he rest in piss.”
So, anti-Semitism is not new. It’s been here for centuries. Anti-Semitism online is also not new. But until recently, it was frowned upon and was not part of the mainstream.
Then came the anti-Semitism in Congress. The famous “Squad,” whose members like to disguise their Jew-hatred by calling it anti-Zionism.
Let’s just pause here for a second.
Saying that anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism is a ridiculous claim. Can one criticize the Israeli government and its policies without being anti-Semitic? Of course!
Can someone deny the validity of Zionism, which is the belief that after thousands of years, the Jews deserve to come home to their homeland, without being anti-Semitic?
No. Just no. You cannot claim the Jews don’t deserve a home without hating Jews.

Large Trucks and Buses Made Before 2010 Now Banned From California Roadways
Big rigs and buses made before 2010 are now banned from operating on California roadways.
The law, which went into effect on New Year’s Day, was part of a set of clean air regulations the California Air Resources Board passed nearly 15 years ago.
According to truck lobbying groups, the new law will prohibit about 10 percent of the commercial motor vehicles that are operating in the state.
“The rule applies to diesel vehicles that weigh at least 14,000 pounds. The air resources board said there are an estimated 200,000 vehicles that have yet to comply with the rule just days before the new year, including roughly 70,000 big rig trucks, or about 10% of the commercial motor vehicles operating in the state, according to trucking lobbying groups,” KCRA reports.
The board argued that newer engines are better at “filtering out harmful particulate matter.”
“When we passed the regulations in 2008, it was to reduce community exposure of toxic air contaminants, it is 100% to protect public health,” Gerald Berumen, spokesman for the air resources board, told the station.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles will no longer register vehicles that are not in compliance.
“The air resources board said it also has an enforcement unit that will audit fleets, do inspections, and issue citations if necessary. The agency is also working with the federal Environmental Protection Agency to help enforce the rule for vehicles coming from out of state,” KCRA reports.
A truck older than 2010 will be exempt if the engine is replaced with a model made in the last 12 years.
Those who drive fewer than 1,000 miles per year in the state can also apply for a low-use exemption.
The law making things more difficult for many truckers to operate comes as supply chain shortages are still a problem in many areas.
“One of the things that really affects us in trucking is CARB’s lack of wanting to deal with this issue,” said Joe Rajkovacz, director of government affairs for the Western States Trucking Association. “During the pandemic, truckers were viewed as heroes, truckers kept things rolling.”
The KCRA report notes that “Rajkovacz said as a result of the pandemic, the used big rig market is similar to the used car market right now: unaffordable for many, especially for small to medium trucking businesses. He noted California truckers would have to buy up 100% of the used market in the United States to comply with the new rule, which he said is impossible.”
“We as an association are seeing members drop because of this rule, they’ve simply decided they’re not going to go out and spend $150,000 dollars on a truck that could lead them to bankruptcy,” Rajkovacz said.
The law may create another supply chain emergency, Rajkovacz warned.
“Many of us would have thought the consequences of California’s goods movements could be severe,” Rajkovacz said. “You can’t take that big of a percentage of the vehicles off the road, but with the slowdown in the economy, it remains to be seen what the impact will be.”
