>That's the kind of thinking that got us in this mess.

No it isn't. Evil people usurping institutions "got us into this mess". Thinking and being realists is how we work through the human condition.

There is no life without a heartbeat no matter how much you wish it with another culture's ancient texts. Forcing victims of sexual abuse (or yes, the occasional accident) to carry an unwanted life is religious authoritarianism. But it's not even that.

PDJT handed conservatives their dream of a conservative court, and that court fucked him over in the midterms. Yes, it accomplished the goal of ending federally funded murder; a correct decision. But it exposed conservatives for what they will do with their "win at all costs" mentality to force their agendas down everyone's throat; unity be damned.

Trust me, I know. The extremes on both sides will always advocate for why they should have absolute control over your person and thoughts because to them, there is no gray area. Pundits like to out everyone in a "this or that" camp to keep that control over everyone, and hush the sensible arguments because the only agenda that matters to both sides is power and control.

This isn't about the unborn; never was. It's about being rational in the current world. Religiosity doesn't equate in the information age, and your sense of morality isn't any more objective than a secular humanist's pov. Until both sides can agree on being scientific and factual in their approach to disagreements, then the puppeteers on each side of every issue will continue to push their absolutist positions on the minds of people that refuse to run their own brain cells together and tell their masters to fuck off. This doesn't have to be a perpetual fight. It could be a journey and exploration of what's best for humanity if we could only convince ourselves to stop vying for control over each others' thoughts and feelings.

This isn't about God, but since you brought it up, your God allowed inconceivable evils to flourish since the beginning of time which caused the suffering of countless billions. Our problems, all of them, are man made. They will have to be solved by man. Seeking a higher purpose through faith is fine, but forcing all to share in that same subjective doctrine isn't seeking God, it's subverting any and all potential for each to develop a relationship of purpose with their creator. No hate here. Just seeking a better way than justifying seizing control of the Republic by way of bible thumping which won't be received well by a majority of the country.
