afaik, the problem of a baker handing off to himself has never come up before. If it has, it was not discovered.
Most bakers bake one or two breads and are ready to hand off, especially if another baker wants to bake. There is currently one baker who likes to bake for long stretches. Obviously, a baker can change IPs if he wants to hand off to himself. But why would he?
He's a speed freak who can handle 24 hours bakes and likes to bake bake bake because it's a trip
OR
it's an OP where different bakers bake, get the board used to bakes being "handled" and then DROP baking one day, leaving the board in a lurch
Either way, it's a problem
First, anons need to be aware of the situation.
