Been looking at pictures of football shoulder pads. Never worn them myself but it appears there is some protection in the mid chest, i.e. over the heart, area of both hard plastic and padding. Which raises the question would regulation NFL pads prevent a blow sufficient to cause commotio cordis?
It does not appear they are designed for this specifically, and it is possible that they shifted during play enough to allow such a blow. Just curious if anyone that has actually worn them has any thoughts along these lines.
