Former Lobbyist: Soda Companies Paid NAACP And Other Groups To Call Opponents “Racist”

Early in my career, I consulted for Coke to ensure sugar taxes failed and soda was included in food stamp funding.

I say Coke's policies are evil because I saw inside the room.

The first step in playbook was paying the NAACP + other civil rights groups to call opponents racist

Coke gave millions to the NAACP and the Hispanic Federation - both directly and through front groups like the American Beverage Association.

This picked up in 2011-2013 - when the Farm Bill and soda taxes were under consideration.

Iranian official shot on Soleimani anniversary – local media

A Basij security officer was gunned down outside his house in Tehran

Qasim Fathullahi, a local Basij commander with the Mohammad Rasulullah Guards of Greater Tehran, was shot four times outside his house on Tuesday, according to Iranian media. He later succumbed to his injuries. Fathullahi’s shooting, which was described as a terrorist attack, comes on the third anniversary of the US drone assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

Fathullahi was a commander of the security base at the Mokhtari neighborhood in southern Tehran, according to the Tasnim news agency. His unit is a former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military formation that was merged with the Basij militia in 2008 and put in charge of security in the Iranian capital.

No group has taken responsibility for the shooting yet. The attack on Fathullahi happened in the evening, after a day of commemorations across Iran for the IRGC Quds Force commander Soleimani, killed in Iraq in 2020.

Soleimani was visiting Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis when their vehicle was targeted by a US strike drone outside the Baghdad International Airport. Donald Trump, the US president at the time, took responsibility for the assassination. Tehran retaliated by firing dozens of missiles at bases hosting US military personnel in Iraq.

Large crowds gathered to commemorate Soleimani on Tuesday, both in Tehran and his hometown of Kerman.

“We have not and will not forget the blood of martyr Soleimani,” President Ebrahim Raisi told the audience in Tehran on Tuesday. “The Americans must know that revenge for martyr Soleimani’s blood is certain, and the murderers and perpetrators will have no easy sleep.”

Raisi also praised Soleimani as a “champion of fighting terrorism and global arrogance” who“dragged the US hegemony in the region to defeat.”

Best Foods for Protein: Top 5 Muscle-Building Meals Most Recommended By Nutrition Experts

  1. Eggs

It’s hard to beat these trusty little protein packed ovals. Eggs are known to have high bioavailability, meaning the body can easily absorb and use the protein that comes from them.

  1. Chicken Breast

Here is another staple well-known for providing ample protein. Chicken breast is not only high in protein, but also low in fat when eaten skinless. And there are almost endless ways to prepare it, which can help to keep you from getting bored if chicken makes up a good portion of your diet.

  1. Lean Beef

Many people avoid red meat, but lean beef is an excellent source of protein. Most medical professionals do recommend eating red meat in moderation, though. We’re not here to give medical advice, so please do consult your doctor or a nutritionist when it comes to what’s best for your body and diet.

  1. Seafood

Salmon is a go to for those seeking protein in the seafood section, and for good reason, the benefits go beyond that of just the protein content. “[Salmon] provides key nutrients like omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, iron, choline, vitamin B12, vitamin D, selenium, and of course, lots of protein. A 3.5-ounce serving of salmon has nearly 20 grams of protein, with less saturated fat than many meat options, according to the United States Department of Agriculture,” writes Prevention.

  1. Legumes

Of course, you can get protein from non-meat sources, and legumes are highly recommended across the web for a plant-based source.

“Legumes include a range of beans and peas such as black beans, chickpeas and lentils. They’re loaded with protein, fiber and many key nutrients including calcium, potassium, magnesium and iron. Don’t let their small size fool you,” writes Johns Hopkins.
