China Calls UN Security Council Meeting Over Israel Minister's Al-Aqsa Visit

China and the United Arab Emirates have called for a UN Security Council meeting at a moment tensions in Jerusalem are poised to explode, given growing Palestinian outrage in response to Israel's new far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir having entered the al-Aqsa Mosque compound this week in a hugely controversial move.

Jewish firebrand leader Ben-Gvir was just sworn in to his post last week as part of PM Netanyahu's governing coalition, widely seen as the most far-right in Israel's history, and his first act as national security chief came Tuesday with the highly provocative visit to the Jerusalem mosque, revered by Muslims across the globe as the third holiest site in Islam, only after Mecca and Medina.

A UN council to address the issue and ongoing tensions is expected to convene Thursday, UN sources told Reuters. Arab countries including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and UAE were quick to condemn the move, and also Turkey issued a denunciation.

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh had charged that Ben-Gvir's trip under tight Israeli police protection of a bid to turn the shrine "into a Jewish temple." Additionally, Palestinian Authority leaders issued a statement saying it was "an unprecedented provocation."

Apart from the spectacle of a hardline settler expansionist politician entering a Muslim sacred site, the issue is so symbolic and sensitive given precisely that the Israeli far-right has long pushed for government annexation over the whole of Temple Mount, on top of which Aqsa Mosque sits.

This is why AFP and other outlets quickly acknowledged Ben-Gvir's actions "could spark a war."

Palestinian and international leaders are urging calm as a response or "next step" is being hotly debated, while Hamas has already said Israel has crossed a "red line" - and reportedly fired off at least one rocket since Tuesday.

Already garnering attention, the billboards direct viewers to KnowUs.org, a growing informational website, buttressed by a digital campaign, which rolled out today.

It’s no secret that antisemitism is on the rise in New York City. There were 45 antisemitic hate crimes against Jews in November 2022 alone, according to NYPD statistics, more than double the figure in November 2021. But here’s what’s not talked about much: the overwhelming majority of antisemitic hate crimes and assaults are perpetrated against Orthodox Jews. Agudath Israel of America, a leading national Orthodox Jewish nonprofit, headquartered in Manhattan, is deeply concerned. The Times’ apparent obsession with painting Orthodox Jews negatively can only increase animus, and potentially violence, against the Orthodox Jewish community.

Former Colorado funeral home owner sentenced to 20 years for selling body parts from over 500 corpses

A former Colorado funeral home director who dissected over 500 corpses and sold body parts without the consent of grieving relatives has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Megan Hess, 46, and her mother dissected some 560 corpses between 2010 and 2018, selling body parts to medical training companies that didn’t know they had been illegally obtained.

Her mother, Shirley Koch, 69, was sentenced to 15 years in jail for helping chop up the bodies, the Colorado Department of Justice said Tuesday.

Hess operated a funeral home, Sunset Mesa, as well as a body parts business, Donor Services, from the same building in Montrose, Colorado.

She pleaded guilty to fraud in July, and received the maximum sentence allowed under the law.

The pair would frequently charge grieving families upwards of $1,000 for cremation services that never took place. Instead, they would harvest body parts or prepare the entire bodies to be sold.

“Hess and Koch used their funeral home at times to essentially steal bodies and body parts using fraudulent and forged donor forms,” prosecutor Tim Neff said in a court filing.

“Hess and Koch’s conduct caused immense emotional pain for the families and next of kin.”

In most instances, Hess and Koch did not ask or receive permission to donate the decedents’ bodies or body parts for body broker services. Other times, Hess and Koch would ask the families to donate the body or body parts and be rejected.

The Guardian embraces Satanic Temple in fight for 'abortion rights'

In a stunningly out-of-touch puff piece on the Satanic Temple, British news outlet The Guardian praised self-proclaimed Satanists in their fight for abortion against what the paper called the "religious right."

Writer Adam Gabbatt interviewed Satanic Temple co-founder and spokesperson Lucien Greaves, whose real name is Douglas Mesner, peppering the piece with his own takes on "draconian" religious Republicans, accusing them of instituting "discriminatory, pro-Christian legislation" that Satanists need to fight back against.

Before introducing the reader to Greaves, Gabbatt framed getting Christianity out of schools and the "right" to abortion both as "fundamental issues."

"…the Temple has tackled prayer in classrooms, religious holiday displays, and the distribution of Bibles in schools," he wrote. "Now, it is taking on another fundamental issue: the right to abortion."

He went on to denounce the "extreme form of Christianity" that wants to protect unborn life.

"The overturning of Roe v. Wade last June opened the door for more than half of US states to effectively ban abortion or restrict access to it, horrifying supporters of reproductive rights," Gabbatt wrote. "The Satanic Temple – and many other observers – believe the decision of the supreme court was made on the basis of religion: specifically the extreme form of Christianity that has come to dominate Republican politics in the US."

The Satanic Temple currently has lawsuits filed in Indiana, Idaho, Texas, and Missouri — all Republican-controlled states — in an effort to gain rights to "religious abortion rituals," arguing that abortion is a religious right in satanism.

Greaves was then introduced as a "fitting frontman for a group that is regularly demonized by its Christian opponents."

"I get messages from people denigrating us for taking legal action to assert our rights, saying: 'You can't change the system from within the system,'" the Satanic Temple spokesman said to the Guardian.

"And I keep asking them: 'What the f*ck do you think you just saw happen? That's what they just did,'" he continued, referencing the Supreme Court decision that overturned the constitutional right to abortion.

"We have to play the long game. They spent generations doing this," Greaves said of his game plan to attack fundamental Christian beliefs.

Gabbatt clarified that Satanists "don't believe in Satan in a literal, demonic sense," but rather as a symbol of "rebellion and opposition to authoritarianism."

Recently, the temple has come under fire for its promotion of "After School Satan Clubs," a program they created in order to counter extracurricular Bible study clubs.

RINO Dan Crenshaw Calls 20 Republicans Who Refuse to Vote for McCarthy “Terrorists”

The US House voted for Speaker for the 6th time Wednesday afternoon.

GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) suffered another humiliating loss for the sixth time.

Kevin McCarthy has now lost votes since Tuesday and since President Trump’s endorsement.

On Wednesday, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX 2nd District) joined Guy Benshow Show.

During the interview, Crenshaw referred to the 20 Republicans challenging the establishment as “terrorists.”

“We cannot let the terrorists win,” Crenshaw said.

On Tuesday, in an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju, Crenshaw blasted the GOP hold-outs for seeking “notoriety over principle.” He then told Raju the debates ended when the House Republican caucus nominated McCarthy for speaker.

Crenshaw’s tone toward his fellow GOPers turned sharper when he deliberately misconstrued their honorable opposition with narcissism.

“But if you’re a narcissist and you believe your opinion is so much more important than anyone else’s, then you keep going. And you’ll threaten to tear down the team for it for the benefit of the Democrats just for your own sense of self-importance. That’s exactly what’s happening here.”
