First Lady Jill Biden is set to have a procedure to have a 'small lesion' above her right eye removed. The lesion was discovered by Dr. Kevin O'Connor, Physician to the President, during a 'routine skin cancer screening.' Vanessa Valdivia, the First Lady's Press Secretary, confirmed the news that Biden, 71, would undergo the removal, the second time she's gone under the knife as first lady after having a puncture wound cleaned out in July of last year. The procedure, known as 'Mohs surgery,' will take place on January 11, according to O'Connor.

New Study: Spike Protein Runs Amok in Young Adults Suffering from Post-Vaccine Myocarditis

📝@COVID19Up: A new study published (https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.122.061025) on Wednesday (January 4) in the Journal of the American Heart Association is lending more evidence that young adult myocarditis post-vaccine is caused by spike proteins.

This study aimed to investigate the immune profiles of adolescents and young adults who developed myocarditis after receiving a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine.

The researchers prospectively collected blood samples from 16 patients who were hospitalized with myocarditis after receiving the injection, and compared them to 45 healthy control subjects of the same age who received the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. They performed extensive antibody profiling, including tests for SARS-CoV-2-specific humoral responses and assessments for autoantibodies or antibodies against other viruses. They also analyzed T-cell responses and cytokine production in the blood samples. They found that the immune responses induced by the mRNA vaccine did not differ between the patients who developed myocarditis and the control subjects.

However, they did find that the patients with myocarditis had higher levels of free, unbound spike protein in their blood, which may be a potential cause of myocarditis in these individuals.
