Thank you for the history and your assessment, I agree, and I welcome back the anons I trained under in Jan 2018. I have the feeling you were one of them. Very kind folks, if one was sincere. No mercy those who weren’t.

 

My Dad took us out fishing all the time in Long Island Sound. He’d come into our bedrooms (10 kids) at 2-3 am, do you want to go out fishing.? And to my remembrance, I’d always say sure!

 

This one morning we got out there north of New London, pitch black. No warning of any storm. But A storm came through so fast and the waves were so high it was incredible.

 

My Dad had always fished and was in the Navy, he took control immediately. He steered the boat into what seemed like a 15 ft wave. It was a boat 26’. A couple other high waves came through. I was freakin amazed at how fucking calm he was. He’d look left and right, up and down, and seemed to sense the wind direction.

 

I remember holding on to the deck (however I could), my dad ordered me and my siblings to get down and stay there, hold onto whatever we could. I always obeyed my Dad.

 

The waves were splashing all over us, it was wild. I can still see in my mind that huge wave crashing down on us and my dad got us through.

 

IT was probably a good 1/2 hour to get out if the storm and back to the docks in New London, we were soaking wet, but alive. I don’t remember being afraid after getting back.

 

For some reason we weren't hysterical, he was a master on the water. He was more concerned he’d lose one of us then himself.

 

We all were excited to tell the rest of the family and of the storm and what dad did, without catching any fish. We used to come in with 20-30 fish, then we’d have to clean them.

 

We ate breakfast and told our stories and others would say, “No Way”! Yes way, it was wild. My Mom didn’t look too happy but she knew he was the master of the ocean, and laughed along with us.
