This is probably just a novelty, but I encountered "gasogens" (search results recently prefer some sort of soda-making tech instead of the classic wood burning auto- I wonder why?) when research wood for heat.

 

The pictured link is a download. Not quite sure how to embed. As I said, I think it is probably more of a curiosity than anything else, but it does show how historically resilient people were.

I'm the opposite, but it isn't really because things "seem" much better. I see things coming together the way I thought they would. Several pretty huge traumas helped break my veneer of normalcy a long time ago. The cracks seemed to let in some reality and some insight from God.

I don't see how I'm supposed to really know from a distance who's a "good guy" or a "bad guy". I hoped things would get, overall, better than they are by now, but for some reason my resilience is increased not decreased.

 

Don't worry about Trump, in my opinion, he's acting like a President, maybe of the WHOLE country not just a part. Whether or not that is the case, I see more opportunities for changing things now than prior to the 2016 Trump victory.
