I hope you were kidding. The different colors are from different breeds of chicken. The “Easter Egger” chickens thrown the pretty colors, white are Leghorns and other breeds. I had all different colors from different breeds just for fun and the kiddos. Best layers were the Rhode Island Reds. They layed brown eggs.

Hahaha. You are right, anon. They taste the best. Right from the nest to the table. They always had a darker yolk than store bought. They were born killers. Baby snakes, mice, baby skunks, lizards nothing was safe around those chickens.

They eat bugs, and anything meat wise they can catch. So they kept the barn population of mice to a very low roar, would find a skunk’s new born babies, and lizards that are not paying attention. Once a chicken finds it, it is off to the races. They run from the others trying to guard their kill and it is usually passed around numerous times like a football going to the end zone. Finally, a chicken will be able to run off and either swallow it whole or peck it to tiny pieces.
