According to Punchbowl News,

there’s also a secret three-page addendum that McCarthy and his allies hashed out during several days of grueling negotiations with the House Freedom Caucus. EU state to reintroduce conscription

Sweden’s move comes as it aims to boost its defense capabilities amid the conflict in Ukraine

The Swedish government plans to reintroduce civil conscription service in the country, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced during a press conference on Monday, adding that the Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) will be ordered to prepare the measure later this week.

According to Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin, the first step will be to send people with the appropriate skills to municipal rescue services to perform civil service there. He noted that as many as 3,000 recruits could become part of this first wave, but stressed during a MSB meeting last week that the details have yet to be ironed out.

“We do not know exactly how many may be covered by the duty. We see that the municipal rescue service today is not designed for the demands of a high alert and ultimately an armed attack,” Bohlin explained.

“The experience from Ukraine is clear – when it comes to protecting the civilian population, emergency services are put under very heavy pressure,” he added.

Compulsory civil service was originally abandoned in Sweden in 2008. The MSB will have until March 1 to prepare the activation of civil duty, the minister said.

He added that the Swedish government hopes to recreate it on a much larger scale than before and stated that those called up for service will undergo additional training on conducting rescue operations in military conditions.

Civil service is the civilian equivalent of conscription, where citizens are called up to carry out missions that are crucial to a country’s defense capabilities. This includes filling positions in healthcare, child care, fire protection and other essential services.

Sweden revived its military conscription in 2017, citing Russian military activity as one of the reasons. The policy requires people to serve between nine and 12 months.

Russia is not fighting Ukrainian people – security chief

The collective West, mainly the US and the UK, is using Ukraine merely to battle Russia, Nikolay Patrushev said

The turmoil in Ukraine has been orchestrated by Washington to create a rift between Russians and Ukrainians, who are effectively a single people, the secretary of Russia’s national Security Council Nikolay Patrushev believes.

The senior official, who previously served as director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) for over a decade, made the remarks in an interview with newspaper Argumenty i Fakty published Monday.

“We are not at war with Ukraine, because by definition we cannot hate ordinary Ukrainians. Ukrainian traditions are close to the people of Russia, just as the heritage of the Russian people is inseparable from the culture of Ukrainians,” Patrushev pointed out.

The whole “Ukrainian affair” has been staged by the US to sow discord and “hone the technologies of separating and pitting [parts of] one nation against each other,” the official said.

The events in Ukraine are not a clash between Moscow and Kiev, this is a military conflict between NATO –above all the US and the UK– and Russia. Being wary of a direct confrontation, NATO instructors are driving Ukrainian guys to their certain death,” Patrushev explained, arguing that Russia's military operation in Ukraine is seeking to “put the bloody experiment by the West in destroying our fraternal Ukrainian people to an end.”

Top Ukrainian officials have openly admitted that the country is fighting Russia on NATO’s behalf. Last week, for instance, Ukrainian Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov said Kiev has been busy tackling Russia, deemed by the US-led bloc as the most significant threat in the Euro-Atlantic area.

“Today, Ukraine is addressing that threat. We’re carrying out NATO’s mission today, without shedding their blood. We shed our blood, so we expect them to provide weapons,” he said.

Russia sent troops into Ukraine on February 24, 2022, citing Kiev’s failure to implement the Minsk agreements, designed to give Donetsk and Lugansk special status within the Ukrainian state. The protocols, brokered by Germany and France, were first signed in 2014. Former Ukrainian president Pyotr Poroshenko has since admitted that Kiev’s main goal was to use the ceasefire to buy time and “create powerful armed forces.”

Shortly before the hostilities broke out, the Kremlin recognized the Donbass republics as independent states and demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join any Western military bloc. Last September, Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, were incorporated into Russia following referendums.

WEF Creep Yuval Noah Harari: Humans May Need to ‘Relearn How to See and Walk’ in ‘Virtual Reality’ Future

Historian, futurist, and noted WEF creep Yuval Noah Harari speculated that human beings may need to “relearn how to see and walk” in a virtual reality future divorcing people from the “physical and biological” world during a discussion with podcaster Tom Bilyeu published on Tuesday.

Harari, an author and World Economic Forum (WEF) adviser, emphasized humanity’s capacity for change and abstract thinking in his contemplation of a technologically-driven paradigm shift in the human condition with the framework of virtual reality.

Humanity may need to “let go” of timeless and ubiquitous components of the human experience, including sight and the ability to walk, he considered.

He remarked:

Maybe the most important quality to survive and flourish in 21st century is to have mental flexibility — not just to keep learning and changing again and again — [but] also to keep letting go.

Part of what makes it difficult to learn new things [is] that we hold on. … I’ll give an example of how deep it goes: it’s not just what you learned in college or what you learned in kindergarten; it’s even what you learned as a baby, as a toddler, like learning how to see, or learning how to walk.

But what does it mean that I have to relearn how to see and walk? As virtual reality improves — and with all the talk of the metaverse and so forth, which we will discuss later on — increasingly, it’s likely that [there] will be many more activities shifting from the physical biological world that we know into a new reality — a virtual reality — which has different physical and biological laws.

Harari asked, “Can we as humans just shift to the immaterial realm of the Metaverse and leave our biological bodies behind? Or is it impossible or even dangerous to try and separate our kind of mental existence from our bodily and physical existence?”

Bilyeu alluded to the centrality of physicality to the human condition while considering a technologically-driven attempt of divorcing humanity from physical existence.

“I am very grounded in biology,” he stated. “Will it be interesting for an entirely virtual species to inhabit [virtual reality]? Maybe that could be cool, but that doesn’t help us. So even people thinking about uploading their consciousness — I’ve thought through that one a lot — it would be a copy of me, but it wouldn’t be me.”

He continued, “So all of this sadness of death that I would be hoping to avoid by doing that doesn’t help. Maybe it kind of gives the same sense of having a kid, but it wouldn’t by any means save me from having to deal with death.”

‘Babies Continue To Die.’ Millions Of Fisher-Price Baby Seats Recalled After More Than 100 Infants Die

Today, the CPSC is reannouncing two recalls of inclined infant sleepers that were issued nearly four years ago – the Fisher Price Rock n Play and the Kids2 Rocking Sleeper.

On April 12, 2019, at the time the original recall was announced, over 30 fatalities were reported to have occurred in the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances. Since the recall, approximately 70 additional fatalities have been reported, which includes at least 8 fatalities that were reported to have occurred after the initial recall announcement.

Approximately 100 deaths have reportedly occurred while infants were in the products. Fisher-Price notes that in some of the reports, it has been unable to confirm the circumstances of the incidents or that the product was a Rock ‘n Play Sleeper.

The product was sold at major stores nationwide including Walmart, Target, and online at Amazon from September 2009 through April 2019 for between $40 and $149.

Statement of Chair Alexander Hoehn-Saric on the Reannouncement of Two Inclined Infant Sleeper Recalls:

We are issuing this announcement because, despite their removal from the marketplace and a prohibition on their sale, babies continue to die in these products. We now know of approximately 100 infant deaths in the Rock n Play, including eight that happened after the recall was announced. And we know of 15 infants who died in the Kids2 Rocking Sleeper, including four since the announcement of the recall.

I urge all parents, grandparents, and caregivers to follow the guidance of this announcement and stop using these products immediately. Also, it is illegal to sell or distribute recalled consumer products, including on the resale market. I urge all stores, including online marketplaces, to review the products being donated or listed and stop all recalled products from being sold.

In the years since the recalls were first issued, the CPSC has taken numerous steps to ensure that products sold for infant sleep are safe. The Infant Sleep Products Rule requires that all new products sold for infant sleep meet existing safety standards and prohibits the sale of any infant sleep products with an incline of more than 10 degrees. The Safe Sleep for Babies Act, enacted by Congress in 2022, bans all inclined infant sleep products.

Unfortunately, today’s announcement highlights the fact that these products are still in too many homes, and babies continue to be put at risk. If any caregiver has concerns about whether a product is safe for their baby, they can look for recalls at saferproducts.gov. And remember that the safest place for a baby to sleep is a firm, flat surface without any blankets or pillows.

Seattle Public Schools Sues TikTok, Facebook, Google, and Snapchat over Youth ‘Mental Health Crisis’

Seattle Public Schools is suing China-owned TikTok, Facebook (now known as Meta), Google’s YouTube, and Snapchat, accusing the social media giants of creating a “mental health crisis among America’s Youth.”

The lawsuit claims that tech giants are exploiting the addictive nature of social media, leading to higher anxiety, depression, and thoughts of self-harm amongst young people, according to a report by Engadget.

“Defendants’ growth is a product of choices they made to design and operate their platforms in ways that exploit the psychology and neurophysiology of their users into spending more and more time on their platforms,” reads the lawsuit, filed in a U.S. district court.

“[They] have successfully exploited the vulnerable brains of youth, hooking tens of millions of students across the country into positive feedback loops of excessive use and abuse of Defendants’ social media platforms,” the complaint adds.

Behavior such as self-harm and extreme dieting have resulted from social media usage, the complaint alleges, adding that this has led to a 30 percent increase in students between 2009 and 2019 who say they feel “so sad or hopeless,” to the point where they “stopped doing some usual activities” for “two weeks or more in a row.”

“Defendants’ misconduct has been a substantial factor in causing a youth mental health crisis, which has been marked by higher and higher proportions of youth struggling with anxiety, depression, thoughts of self-harm, and suicidal ideation,” the suit reads.

The complaint goes on to say that “the rates at which children have struggled with mental health issues have climbed steadily since 2010 and by 2018 made suicide the second leading cause of death for youths.”

As a result, these students have been “less likely to attend school, more likely to engage in substance use, and to act out, all of which directly affects Seattle Public Schools’ ability to fulfill its educational mission,” the lawsuit states.

The complaint adds that while Section 230 of the U.S. Communications Decency Act protects social media platforms from being responsible for content posted by third parties, the clause does not protect these companies for recommending, distributing, and promoting content “in a way that causes harm.”

Google, which owns YouTube, responded to the lawsuit, telling Axios, “We have invested heavily in creating safe experiences for children across our platforms and have introduced strong protections and dedicated features to prioritize their wellbeing. For example, through Family Link, we provide parents with the ability to set reminders, limit screen time and block specific types of content on supervised devices.”

A Facebook spokesperson offered a similar response, stating, “We’ve developed more than 30 tools to support teens and families, including supervision tools that let parents limit the amount of time their teens spend on Instagram, and age verification technology that helps teens have age-appropriate experiences.”

The social media giants being sued by the Seattle schools are known for being toxic to young people.

Lawmakers have also urged Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to drop his plans for an “Instagram for Kids” app after internal research by Instagram was released, showing that the platform has had a terrible effect on the mental health of its teenage users, especially girls.

TikTok, an app owned by a hostile foreign country, is also a huge offender. The China-owned app is known for being a danger to youth. Not only does TikTok’s algorithm make it easier for teenagers to go viral and gain internet fame when they post sexualized videos, the app has also gotten kids to participate in trends that are dangerous and even life-threatening.

Pfizer Gives $1 Million to Kentucky GOP to Expand Its Headquarters – The “Mitch McConnell Building”

Pfizer donated $1 million to the Kentucky Republican Party in 2021 in what is being called the highest donation to a political party in state history.

The donation will be used to expand the Frankfort Mitch McConnell Building in the state capital.

The donation seems like a perfect fit.

Mitch McConnell has been a staunch supporter of the COVID vaccine and COVID legislation.

Via The Kentucky Lantern:

In what may be the largest political contribution ever given to a political party in Kentucky, the drug maker Pfizer Inc. gave $1 million last month to the building fund of the Republican Party of Kentucky.

A report filed by Republican Party of Kentucky Building Fund last week with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance listed the $1 million from Pfizer along with five other big corporation contributions in the final quarter of 2022 totalling $1.65 million.

That is an extraordinarily large haul for the fund which had raised only $6,000 during the first three quarters of 2022.

The other large corporate donors to the fund in late 2022 were:

Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., New York, $300,000;

Altria Client Services LLC, of Richmond, VA., $100,000;

Comcast Corp., of Philadelphia; $100,000;

AT&T, of St. Louis; $100,000;

Delta Air Lines, of Atlanta, $50,000.

State and federal campaign finance laws set limits on how much a person or political action committee can give to the executive committee of either political party. (A person can give no more than $15,000 per year.) And corporation contributions to a party’s executive committee are prohibited…

… The $1.65 million added to the GOP building fund would be plenty to pay for a major expansion and upgrade for the party headquarters. The Franklin County Property Valuation Administrator’s website currently lists the taxable value of the current headquarters property at $485,000. The Franklin PVA lists the taxable value of the adjacent vacant lot owned by the Republican Party at $150,000.

A sign identifies the party headquarters as the Mitch McConnell Building, in honor of U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

‘Any Messaging You Want’: Facebook Asked Biden Admin For Talking Points After FDA Vaccine Blood Clots Warning

Facebook requested talking points from the Biden administration to “get ahead” of the possibility that people might be less likely to get a COVID-19 vaccine after evidence emerged that the Johnson and Johnson (J&J) single-dose vaccine might cause life-threatening blood clots in some rare cases, according to emails obtained by the New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA).

A Facebook staffer — whose name is redacted in compliance with a court order — discussed ways to potentially modify Facebook’s algorithms or provide “context” to posts from White House-approved sources with White House Director of Digital Strategy Rob Flaherty, according to the emails.

“Re the J+J news, we’re keen to amplify any messaging you want us to project about what this means for people – it obviously has the risk of exacerbating vaccine hesitancy, so we’re keen to get ahead of the knock-on effect,” a Facebook staffer wrote to . “Don’t hesitate to tell me – or via your teams – how we can help you provide clarity/reassurance via Facebook.”

Facebook requested talking points from the Biden administration to “get ahead” of the possibility that people might be less likely to get a COVID-19 vaccine after evidence emerged that the Johnson and Johnson (J&J) single-dose vaccine might cause life-threatening blood clots in some rare cases, documents shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation show.

The U.S. Centers For Disease Control (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a joint statement on April 13, 2021, issuing a pause on the use of the J&J COVID-19 vaccine after they identified 6 cases where adult women — out of roughly 7 million individuals who receive the dose — developed severe blood clots. A Facebook employee wrote an email later that day asking Biden administration COVID-19 czar Andrew Slavitt for “any messaging” that the White House might want the company to promote, looping in White House Director of Digital Strategy Rob Flaherty and Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement for the COVID-19 Response Team Courtney Rowe in a follow-up email moments later, according to documents obtained by the New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) and shared with the DCNF.

The NCLA is party to an ongoing lawsuit filed by the Attorneys General of Louisiana and Missouri alleging improper collusion between the federal government and social media companies, and obtained the emails via discovery.

“Re the J+J news, we’re keen to amplify any messaging you want us to project about what this means for people – it obviously has the risk of exacerbating vaccine hesitancy, so we’re keen to get ahead of the knock-on effect,” the employee wrote. “Don’t hesitate to tell me – or via your teams – how we can help you provide clarity/reassurance via Facebook.”

Flaherty responded to the email suggesting that the company create a context panel for information about the vaccine, suggesting that the company tell users that the clotting incidents “are very rare,” that the FDA and CDC are working on a treatment plan and that the vaccine is very different from the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines and that they were unaffected, according to the documents. The White House official would go on to say he was “happy to provide” more specifics about what the information in the context panel “should be.”

In addition, he provided Facebook with a statement from the White House, and informed the company that the CDC would be putting together a FAQ sheet on the J&J vaccine that the White House would “love to have amplified in whatever way possible,” according to the emails. Finally, Flaherty asked that Facebook commit to spreading as much positive news about the vaccine as negative, even going so far as to request that the company alter its algorithms to do so.

Flaherty believed that a “commitment from [Facebook] to make sure that a favorable review reaches as many people as the pause, either through hard product interventions or algorithmic amplification,” would be helpful to prevent “misinformation” surrounding the J&J vaccine, according to the emails.

Mike Rogers Steps Down from House Steering Committee After Lunging at Matt Gaetz – Dan Crenshaw Loses Race for Homeland Security Chair

Rep. Mike Rogers (right) and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (left)

It was a rough week for Congressmen Dan Crenshaw and Mike Rogers.

Mike Rogers was last seen on early Saturday morning screaming, threatening, and lunging at Rep. Matt Gaetz in the US House of Representatives.

And Dan Crenshaw repeatedly threatened holdout Republicans and labeled them “terrorists” for not supporting Kevin McCarthy for Speaker.

Dan was pictured bloodied by the end of the week.

Their antics from last week did not play out well in Monday’s voting.

Freedom Caucus member Rep. Mark Green defeated Dan Crenshaw for House Homeland Security Committee chair after he called his fellow Republicans “terrorists.”

And Mike Rogers, after his public display, bowed out of the House Steering Committee.

It was a good day for American patriots.

David René James de Rothschild (1942-)

Baron David René James de Rothschild was born 15 December 1942, in New York, where his parents had travelled for safety during the Second World War. He is the son of Guy Edouard Alphonse Paul de Rothschild (1909-2007)and Alix Hermine Jeanette Schey von Koromla (1911-1982). While his mother remained in New York throughout the war, his father went back to Europe where he joined the Free French Forces. After the war, the family returned home to Paris, where he was educated at Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris in Paris, graduating in 1966.

He has one half-brother, Edouard de Rothschild from his father's later marriage to Marie-Hélène van Zuylen van Nyevelt. He married Princess Olimpia Anna Aldobrandini in 1974 and they have 4 children: Lavinia Anne Alix, Stéphanie Anne Marie, Alexandre Guy Francesco de Rothschild, and Louise Lili Béatrice.

He began his business career at Société miniére et métallurgique de Peñarroya, one of the family's international mining businesses headquartered in Paris. He then began training in de Rothschild Frères bank. In 1967 due to French government reform of banking regulations, de Rothschild Frères became Banque Rothschild, a limited-liability company. Following the election to the French Presidency of the socialist government of François Mitterrand in 1981, the new parliament nationalized a number of large companies and banks including Banque Rothschild.

In 1982, David recreated the bank in Paris after it had been nationalised, with 10 employees housed in the Avenue Matignon. In 1987, joined by his half-brother Edouard, step-brother Count Philippe de Nicolay, and cousin Eric de Rothschild, Baron David created a successor company, Rothschild & Cie Banque. They soon built their new bank into a major competitor in France and continental Europe. In 2003, following the retirement of his English cousin, Sir Evelyn de Rothschild (1931-2022), as head of N M Rothschild & Sons, the UK and French firms merged to become one entity, under one holding company, Paris Orléans. Under the leadership of Baron David, the successful partnership between the French and British family businesses enabled the group to develop a broad geographic footprint and global network, with 3,500 employees operating in 63 offices across 44 countries.

His corporate positions have since included: chairman of N M Rothschild & Sons, chairman of Rothschild Continuation Holdings, Vice Chairman of Rothschild Bank AG, Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Paris Orleans, Senior Partner of Rothschild & Cie Banque, Member of the Supervisory Board of Compagnie Financiere Saint-Honore, Member of the Supervisory Board of Compagnie Financiere Martin Maurel, Member of the Supervisory Board of De Beers Group, and Member of the Supervisory Board of Groupe Casino.

On 17 April 2018, Rothschild & Co announced the appointment of Alexandre de Rothschild, Baron David’s son, to succeed him as Chairman of Rothschild & Co. At the shareholders’ meeting in May 2018, David de Rothschild became Chairman of the Supervisory Board to replace Eric de Rothschild. In accordance with the succession plan, Alexandre de Rothschild became Executive Chairman of the group.

Outside of his role in the family business, Baron David has served as town mayor for 18 years for the town where the Rothschild’s made their home in Normandy at Château Reux. The town is France's preeminent horse breeding area and is close to Haras de Meautry, the breeding farm run by his brother Edouard. Baron David also owns a share of the Château Lafite-Rothschild vineyard but is not active in its day-to-day operations.

David de Rothschild succeeded former French minister Simone Veil as president of the French Entente Cordiale Scholarship trust, a Franco-British scholarship programme. He was also President of the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah. From 1982-2006, Baron David lead the United Jewish Fund (UJF), a federation of about 200 Jewish social, educational, and cultural associations, which his father had created in 1950.
