In TX, as stated, homeschool kids are not required to follow state mandates or take state tests.

A lot of homeschoolers will follow state guidelines in regards to how math classes, how many English classes, etc are required, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, the content is CHOSEN BY THE PARENT.

Some folks order whole curriculums from homeschool companies (pricey). Some piece their curriculum together themselves from various sources.

Anon is using a school issued World Geography book with kids this year because it has beautiful graphics, was used and was cheap. It has [their] propaganda garbage in it. When we come to those parts, we label it propaganda and then discuss why it's propaganda.

Lots of free educational stuff online too for the little ones. Of course,, parents need to vet. There are various types of homeschool methods because people are varied, but kids really do benefit.
