Trump organization fined $1.6 million for tax fraud

New York judge Friday fined the Trump Organization $1.6 million for a tax fraud scheme for over 15 years.
Subsidiaries of the Trump Organization – Trump Corp. and Trump Payroll Corp. – were convicted in December 2022 on 17 counts, some of which included criminal tax fraud, falsifying business records, and conspiracy.

Detroit corruption crackdown nears new conviction
A former Detroit police detective charged in a federal investigation targeting corruption within Detroit City Hall, law enforcement and municipal towing operations is expected to plead guilty and admit to receiving $7,724 in bribes, according to a court filing Friday.
Michael Pacteles, 45, would be the fifth city official to plead guilty in an ongoing federal corruption investigation, "Operation Northern Hook," that sent former Detroit City Councilman André Spivey to federal prison, implicated two other councilmembers and linked Mayor Mike Duggan to a chain of events that outed a confidential FBI informant.
