Settlers filmed attacking Palestinians, foreign tourists during West Bank hike

No arrests made after young Israelis assault group in Jordan Valley; woman says 3 people required hospital treatment

A number of Israeli settlers assaulted a group of Palestinians and foreign tourists who were hiking near the West Bank city of Jericho on Friday, according to videos from the incident and a woman who was present.

In the clips, a young Jewish man can be seen swinging a club at the hikers, who back away and scream as he attacks them.

An unnamed security source told the Haaretz daily that the settlers also attacked the group with pepper spray.

The source also said soldiers who arrived at the scene escorted the hikers back to their bus following the assault, which occurred near the village of Badu al-Mu’arrajat in the Jordan Valley.

Neither the military nor police commented on the incident and no arrests have been made.

An Italian woman who was on the hike said three other members of the group — which included Palestinians, Americans, Italians and French citizens — required hospital treatment after being attacked. She added that six very young settlers were present during the assault.

“When we were near the end [of the hike], the settlers arrived with clubs and pepper spray. They prevented us from continuing to walk and began to attack us,” the woman, who was identified only by her first name Samira, told Haaretz.

She also said she was struck in the hand with a club while filming.

The incident came after a steep rise in settler attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank in 2022, with some 840 such incidents last year compared to 446 the year before and 353 in 2020.

The attacks included stone-throwing attacks against Palestinians and incidents of vandalism commonly referred to as “price tag” assaults. Perpetrators call them retaliation for Palestinian violence or Israeli government policies seen as hostile to the settler movement.

The IDF has said that settler attacks in 2022 were no longer only coming chiefly from settlements or illegal outposts considered extremist, such as the Yitzhar area near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, but also from supposedly moderate areas.

The Biden classified document scandal was leaked to CBS News more than 2 months after the materials were discovered by Biden’s personal lawyers.

The Biden Regime is actively engaged in a cover up and it appears the National Archives and the DOJ are in on the cover up as well.

Rep. Comer on Wednesday requested:

1. All documents retrieved from President Biden’s personal office at the Penn Biden Center

1. All internal documents and communications regarding the documents retrieved from President Biden’s personal office at the Penn Biden Center

1. A list of all people who had access to President Biden’s personal office at the Penn Biden Center

1. All documents and communications related to the handling of the classified material by President Biden’s personal lawyers — including but not limited to their security clearance status

1. All documents and communications between or among the White House and the Department of Justice or NARA [National Archives and Records Administration] regarding the documents retrieved from President Biden’s personal office at the Penn Biden Center

The National Archives has not responded to Comer’s request.

Comer said subpoenas are on the table.
