I think the story is right to question if the incident was "accidental" and it is also correct to say an appropriate response is to fire the teacher. However, wouldn't this incident be a matter for the law, too? Don't give the students "counseling" to cement in their minds the traumatic incident-call the police (or sheriff?! How many schools have law enforcement on the premises most of the time? How many mandatory reporters are in a school building?!
