It is unclear why Joe Biden took home classified government documents for Hunter. However, in a memo from the White House Counsel's Office written in February 2014, it stated that Hunter Biden was provided materials from his father's office as part of “a proper and appropriate course of action for a Vice President’s family members”. The memo also stated that such materials would normally be considered part of the Vice President’s work-related materials, and that a review of existing records showed that this was standard practice for Vice Presidents and their family members.
