Maybe they predict American oil independence in the future. We're gonna dig, frack and drill the status quo to hell. Imagine how things have been with the flow of trade for thousands of years flowing from east to west. We can now imagine a future where Americans would enter the energy market in a way that blows the ancient trade deficit. The Romans ran out of gold and silver to pay for their armies since they were sending it all to the east to buy all the crap they would.That's why the search for gold and high taxes for the west for so long. To buy all the shit coming from the east that they never had any king of material thing to trade equally with all the other resource items coming from the east, India and China. For thousands of years metal is what has been flowing from west to east. That's why they got gold roofed temples out there. Now America will have a substantial natural resource to trade with other than just metals. Anyway, fuck them.

I forgot who made the deal, Nixon maybe, but the American Dollar is used by Saudi Arabia (and maybe OPEC not sure) as the only currency they could use to make transactions of their oil reserves to other countries who now had to buy the Dollar to buy oil from OPEC sending the demand (and the value) of the Dollar skyrocketing.
The Dollar's value has been largely dependent on the oil market. It's the entire point of why global warming climate change and other environmental angles are coming from them, the Saudi's like their Prince Talal. It's all they really got. So they have the greatest interests at keeping the oil status quo going.
Now they feel we strongly want to stop buying their oil and sell our own like they do. That means we would be cutting into their game so they know they can't stop us anymore and are preparing for the big changes coming ahead if and only if we can run this ship around.
