Pentagon sending US arms stored in Israel to Ukraine

The US Department of Defense is tapping into a vast stockpile of US ammunition in Israel, which provides arms and ammunition for the Pentagon to use in Middle East conflicts, to help meet Ukraine's need for artillery shells in the conflict with Russia, The New York Times reported citing US and Israeli officials.

The Israeli officials said that Israel had not changed its policy of not providing Ukraine with lethal weapons and rather was acceding to an American decision to use its own ammunition as it saw fit.

US, Ukraine top military chiefs meet in person for 1st time

Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, met for a couple of hours with Ukraine’s chief military officer, Gen. Valerii Zaluzhnyi, at an undisclosed location in southeastern Poland. The two leaders have talked frequently about Ukraine’s military needs and the state of the war over the past year but had never met.

Ukraine crash: 18 Dead / Interior Minister among the dead

 

Three children were among the dead and 15 more are being treated in hospital.

The minister, Denys Monastyrsky, was with eight others in the helicopter.

His first deputy minister and the state secretary also died, officials said, when the helicopter came down in the suburb of Brovary.

National police chief Ihor Klymenko wrote on Facebook that the helicopter belonged to Ukraine's state emergency service.
