FBI searched Joe Biden's home, found more documents marked classified Friday

January 21, 2023

WASHINGTON — The FBI searched President Joe Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, on Friday and located additional documents with classified markings and also took possession of some of his handwritten notes, the president’s lawyer said Saturday.

The president voluntarily allowed the FBI into his home, but the lack of a search warrant did not dim the extraordinary nature of the search. It compounded the embarrassment to Biden that started with the disclosure Jan. 12 that the president's attorneys had found a "small number" of classified records at a former office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington shortly before the midterm elections. Since then, attorneys found six classified documents in Biden's Wilmington home library from his time as vice president.

Though Biden has maintained "there's no there there," the discoveries have become a political liability as he prepares to launch a reelection bid, and they undercut his efforts to portray an image of propriety to the American public after the tumultuous presidency of his predecessor, Donald Trump.

During Friday's search, which lasted nearly 13 hours, the FBI took six items that contained documents with classified markings, said Bob Bauer, the president’s personal lawyer. The items spanned Biden’s time in the Senate and the vice presidency, while the notes dated to his time as vice president, he said. The level of classification, and whether the documents removed by the FBI remained classified, was not immediately clear as the Justice Department reviews the records.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Fitzpatrick confirmed Saturday that the FBI had executed “a planned, consensual search” of the president’s residence in Wilmington.

The resident and first lady Jill Biden were not at the home when it was searched. They were spending the weekend at their home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

"We found a handful of documents were filed in the wrong place," Biden told reporters Thursday during a visit to California. "We immediately turned them over to the Archives and the Justice Department."

Biden added that he was "fully cooperating and looking forward to getting this resolved quickly."

It remains to be seen whether additional searches by federal officials of other locations might be conducted. Biden's personal attorneys previously conducted a search of the Rehoboth Beach residence and said they did not find any official documents or classified records.

Atlanta Police car engulfed in flames after protesters use explosives to set fire

6 arrested, police car set on fire and explosives found during 'Stop Cop City' protest in Downtown Atlanta

January 21, 2023

Dressed in all black with masks over their faces, activists threw rocks and reportedly lit fireworks in front of a building that houses the Atlanta Police Foundation, shattering large glass windows near Peachtree Street and Andrew Young Boulevard.

Just after 6 p.m., police said they set an Atlanta Police cruiser on fire, smashed the windows of a Wells Fargo bank and vandalized walls with anti-police graffiti in an area that is typically bustling with tourists. The protesters have dubbed the training facility as "Cop City."

Just before 7 p.m., police said "order has been restored to the downtown space."

George Santos admits to dressing up as woman, but denies he was a ‘drag queen’

January 21, 2023

Lying Long Island Rep. George Santos finally admitted to dressing up as a woman in the past— though he denied he was a “drag queen” while talking to reporters at LaGuardia Airport on Saturday.

“No, I was not a drag queen in Brazil, guys. I was young and I had fun at a festival. Sue me for having a life,” the embattled Republican congressman said, in his first public response since allegations that he performed as a drag queen named Kitara emerged last week.

Santos, who is openly gay, had repeatedly tried to shoot down the reports of his cross-dressing past, which emerged last week after a photo from 2008 was posted online by Eula Rochard, a drag queen in Brazil and former friend of Santos.

A video also surfaced of what appeared to be the freshman rep clad in a black dress and sunglasses, boasting about performing as a drag queen at the Pride parade in the Rio suburb of Niteroi in 2005.

Antifa protesters mimic George Floyd screaming 'I can't breathe' as they're pinned down and arrested in Atlanta: Violent group torches a police car and pelts building with fireworks over activist's 'Cop City' shooting death

A protest in Atlanta turned violent on Saturday as demonstrators set a police car on fire and smashed windows of buildings

Those being arrested screamed 'I can't breathe' as police detained them - despite clearly being able to breathe

Marchers gathered to protest the killing of an activist by law enforcement on Wednesday during a raid to clear an autonomous zone dubbed 'Cop City'

January 21, 2023

Antifa rioters armed with explosives screamed 'I can't breathe' as they were arrested by police officers on Saturday night after torching cars, hurling fireworks and smashing windows with hammers in downtown Atlanta.

Clad in black hoodies, ski masks and surgical face masksin order to obscure their identity as they perpetrated acts of wanton vandalism, video footage saw at least three being pinned to the ground by police officers all the while screaming George Floyd's dying words.

However, unlike Floyd who died at the hands of Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020,those who were being placed in cuffs on Saturday night were clearly able to breathe and they made their full-throated claims audible, in front of cameras.

The six rioters who were arrested have not yet been identified and their charges have not been released.

Atlanta police later revealed that some of those who were arrested were known to have taken part in other protests in the past. Many other participants do not live in the Atlanta area or even the state of Georgia and had come specifically to take part in any forms of social unrest.

The Atlanta Police Department said: 'Atlanta Police officers have responded to a group damaging property at several locations along Peachtree [Street].

'Several arrests have been made and order has been restored to the downtown space. This is still an active and ongoing investigation, and we will not be able to provide specifics on arrests numbers or property damaged, at this time.'

Teran was shot dead after allegedly opening fire at a Georgia State Patrol trooper during a 'clearing operation' of the so-called autonomous zone at the site of a future $90 million center.

Since June 2021, Antifa and other far-left extremists from across the US have occupied the area to prevent the construction of what they've dubbed 'cop city.'

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) said a Georgia State Patrol trooper was shot and severely injured during the raid by a man camped in the area. Officers returned fire and killed Teran, who brandished a pistol.

NIMBY

Not in my HUGE back yard! 156-unit low-income housing project sparks outrage in billionaire's playground Nantucket - where Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman and former Secretary of State John Kerry spend their summers

January 21, 2023

Plans to build an affordable housing project on Nantucket, Surfside Crossing, were first submitted in April 2018, and have been hotly contested ever since

Developers want to create 156 homes on a 13.5-acre site, with 70 percent designated for people who live on the island year-round

They said 15 of the homes and 24 of the condos would be sold for between $261,000 and $373,000, but locals say the island cannot support the building

Plans to build an affordable housing complex in Nantucket remain in limbo after locals objected to the scheme, insisting the affluent island does not have the infrastructure or resources for the development.

Surfside Crossing promised 156 homes on the 13.5-acre site, with 70 percent designated for people who live on the island year-round.

On an island where a 5,075- square-foot home recently went for $33 million, and where John Kerry and Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman spend their summers, securing housing for those working in tourism or the local economy is a perennial challenge.

Local developers Jamie Feeley and Josh Posner, who previously constructed an award-winning 40-home affordable housing project on the island called Beach Plum Village, said that their proposal was the answer.

They said that 15 of the homes and 24 of the condos would be sold for between $261,000 and $373,000, and none of the 156 properties would be more than $1 million.

Yet locals have for five years been fighting to stop the scheme.

'Most people on the island think affordable housing is the No. 1 problem facing it,' said Posner.

'And yet these attempts to try and do something about it usually have one tragic flaw: They are next door to somebody.'

Meghan Perry, one of the leaders of the Nantucket Tipping Point protest group, told The Daily Beast that her objections were not 'NIMBYism'.

Perry noted that the island's fire chief testified that the development posed a 'serious public safety concern.'

Others were worried about the nearby school, traffic patterns, andrare species in the area.

Did Gavin Newsom Kill His Own Mother?

Giving her lethal drugs would be murder.

January 15, 2023

During his first gubernatorial campaign, now-Gov. Gavin Newsom made a truly shocking — and horrifying — admission.

Newsom told a reporter from the New Yorker that in 2002, when he was on San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors, his 55-year-old mother, who had breast cancer, called to tell him that she had chosen to die by assisted suicide. (“In May, 2002, his mother decided to end her life through assisted suicide,” the New Yorker reports.)

The New Yorker reports that Newsom said this: “The night before we gave her the drugs, I cooked her dinner, hard-boiled eggs, and she told me, ‘Get out of politics.’ She was worried about the stress on me.”

Wait.

“The night before we gave her the drugs”?

Did Newsom admit to euthanizing — that is, killing — his own mother? Was he a part of the we who gave her the drugs? Drugs that ended her life?

Because giving her lethal drugs would be murder.

“Every person who deliberately aids, or advises, or encourages another to commit suicide, is guilty of a felony.”) This law was amended after California legalized assisted suicide in 2016 to state that actions which are compliant with that law, the End of Life Option Act, will not be prosecuted under it. (“A person whose actions are compliant with the provisions of the End of Life Option Act (Part 1.85 (commencing with Section 443) of Division 1 of the Health and Safety Code) shall not be prosecuted under this section.”)

That raises the question of whether assisting a suicide in California outside of the bounds of the End of Life Option Act, as was the case with Newsom’s mother, should be prosecuted under the law specifically against “aid[ing], or advis[ing], or encourag[ing]” a suicide or homicide laws.

U.S. state courts have typically followed the guidance from the 1953 Oregon case State v. Bouse, which says that homicide statutes should be used over assisted-suicide statutes “where a person actually performs, or actively assists in performing, the overt act resulting in death, such as shooting or stabbing the victim, administering the poison…”

If Newsom was truly part of the “we” in the “we gave her the drugs,” then perhaps the homicide statute should be relevant here.

If Newsom did not help administer the drugs himself and was merely present and encouraging at what he says was his mother’s suicide, he could be criminally liable under California’s law against “aid[ing], or advis[ing], or encourag[ing]” a suicide.

In 1975, a California man “stood by while his wife committed suicide,” and, though the man was not charged, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office “warned that helping another person commit suicide was still violation of the law.” The law referred to here is the one against “aid[ing], or advis[ing], or encourag[ing]” a suicide.

The obituary for Tessa Newsom, Newsom’s mother, says that she died in San Francisco, California. It does not mention euthanasia.

It’s certainly possible that the New Yorker inaccurately reported Newsom’s statements. It’s also possible that Newsom said “we gave her the drugs” even though he participated in no such thing. But all of that is unclear.

The American Spectator asked Gavin Newsom’s press office to clarify Newsom’s comments to the New Yorker, and, though the office responded to other inquiries, it did not respond to this one.

In California, where assisted suicide is legal, attitudes toward it are positive, and Newsom is the governor, it is highly unlikely that Newsom would ever be charged in connection with his mother’s death. Moreover, Newsom’s statements about his mom’s suicide have been public information for over four years — a period of time during which Newsom has been elected governor of California twice (and easily survived a recall).

Californians don’t care about Newsom’s claimed connection to his mother’s death. Either that or they haven’t heard about it. At the time the New Yorker article came out, it garnered little attention. Wesley J. Smith of the Discovery Institute published a post on National Review’s blog titled “Gavin Newsom Helped Mother’s Assisted Suicide.” Smith noted simply, “Awful.”

But if Newsom does try for higher office or federal office, his mother’s death could be an issue for the American people. Not all people in the South or the Midwest are OK with giving your mother a big dose of morphine to send her off to her death.

Newsom told the New Yorker reporter, Tad Friend, that he saved his mother’s voicemail in which she tells him that she is planning assisted suicide on a cassette tape. He said, “[T]hat’s how sick I am.”
