Free Speech, but not in North Miami

Fox News analyst slams woke Miami restaurant for throwing him out for his conservative views as he discussed politics with friends - as owners defend action because 'their words made other folks very uncomfortable'

January 23, 2023

Gianno Caldwell, a political commentator for Fox News claims to have been asked to leave a North Miami bookstore and restaurant, Paradis Books and Bread

Caldwell was discussing politics with friends and said the incident was a clear case of discrimination and were promoting a sort of political segregation

The bookstore has since closed its doors and stated how they were starting their winter break early due to the incident

A political commentator for Fox News was asked to leave a North Miami bookstore and restaurant as he discussed politics with friends.

Gianno Caldwell had been eating a meal with a group of people at Paradis Books and Bread then he was asked to vacate the premises.

'I can't believe what just happened. I met up with friends for breakfast at Paradis Books and Bread in North Miami & while we were having discussions about politics we were told by the owner that we were not welcomed there because we aren't politically aligned. Outrageous,' he explained in an initial tweet.

'No matter your politics you should not be discriminated against. I was discriminated against for being a conservative and told to leave a restaurant in North Miami because my politics didn't 'align' with the owner. This is NOT okay,' he stated in a followup posting.

Caldwell has said the incident was a clear case of discrimination and the bookstore's actions were promoting a sort of political segregation reminiscent of the Jim Crow South.

'In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King said: 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.' My experience at Paradis Books and Bread in North Miami is a clear case of discrimination that should not be tolerated in Florida or anywhere in America,' Caldwell said to NBC6.

'Whether liberal or conservative, no one should ever be asked to leave a place of business for engaging in political conversation in a respectful dialogue. Paradis is promoting a sort of political segregation that hearkens back to the days of the Jim Crow South and runs counter to the restaurant's harm reduction policy.'

The bookstore, which is owned by five friends, Brian Wright, Bianca Sanon, Sef Chesson, Ben Yen and Audrey Wright opened in December 2021.

It has since closed its doors and posted on Instagram that they were starting their winter break early due to the incident.

KEK- perfectly normal, close that place at the height of Snowbird season. Sounds right..

Have a side of Jim Crow with that?

White House says DOJ, Archives has Biden visitor info as House panel wants access

January 23, 2023

WASHINGTON —Visitor logs detailing who had access to President Biden’s Delaware home where classified documents from his time as a senator and vice president were improperly stashed awayare now in the hands of the Justice Department and National Archives, the White House said Monday.

After the Secret Service initially denied last week that such records existed, the counsel’s office told House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) that the agencies now had custody of the logs.

“In it, the White House Counsel … explained that the White House does not have possession of the documents, that the Archives and DOJ have taken [them] into their possession and stressed the importance of protecting the integrity and independence of law enforcement investigations,” White House spokesman Ian Sams told reporters.

Comer had formally requested details of visitors to the Wilmington, Del. home in a letter earlier Monday to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.

“The US Secret Service protected President Biden during the time he stored these classified materials at his Wilmington residence,” Comer wrote.

“Given the White House’s lack of transparency regarding President Biden’s residential visitor logs, the committee seeks information from the Secret Service regarding who had access to his home since serving as vice president,” the chairman added.

Beginning Dec. 20, the president’s attorneys and law enforcement officials have found multiple batches of sensitive papers at Biden’s home during several searches.

On Saturday, the White House announced that six documents marked classified had been removed from the residence the day before by investigators, along with some of Biden’s notes and “surrounding materials.”

The Delaware home became a target of searches after Biden’s attorneys reportedly found 10 pieces of classified material in an abandoned office at the Penn Biden Center in DC on Nov. 2, six days before the midterm elections.

The White House has refused to divulge who may have had access to the documents while visiting the president since he took office in January 2021, insisting that the home is his “personal” residence — despite the fact that Biden has spent all or part of 164 days there across 52 trips since becoming the oldest-ever president.

In the letter, Comer said the committee previously requested a Wilmington visitor log from White House chief of staff Ron Klain on Jan. 15, but were told that administration officials “do not maintain” such information.

On Jan. 16, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi initially stated the agency had no information to provide to journalists or members of Congress because “we don’t independently maintain our own visitor logs because it’s a private residence.”

He later walked back that statement, saying Thursday that “the Secret Service does generate law enforcement and criminal justice information records for various individuals who may come into contact with Secret Service protected sites,” prompting Comer to send the Monday letter.

🚨@RepJamesComer is calling on the U.S. Secret Service Director to provide all documents, communications, and visitor information maintained for President Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware residence.

The White House’s lack of transparency is concerning.

Viral video that claims the Titanic never sank is blowing people’s minds

January 23, 2023

A viral video that has amassed more than 11 million views on TikTok is claiming a very convincing theory that the actual Titanic never sank.

Instead, a woman by the name Mia believes it was the Olympic ship that had been purposefully submerged — in order to avoid the exorbitant costs it would take to repair it

“I was a Titanic kid, meaning I literally knew every single fact about the Titanic,” Mia says. “My a** would sit and watch documentaries for hours and hours and hours. But when I heard this theory, everything like made sense.”

“The White Star Line — a super important ship company built three super notable ships. We have the Titanic, the Olympic and the Britannic,” she adds. The British company was one of the most prominent shipping lines in the world, providing passenger and cargo services between the British Empire and the United States at the time.

“The Britannic was the first to go — it was a war ship and people say it was struck by like a land mine in the water. But no it wasn’t. It was struck by a torpedo by a German U-boat and it sank.”

“As you can see, she resembles the Titanic. Just like different colors. And you can see where it was hit.”

The Britannic was used as a hospital ship in 1915, and bore green and white colors. On the morning of Nov. 21, 1916, it sank, claiming the lives of 30. There were 1,036 survivors.

There have been conflicting reports as to whether the ship sank from an enemy submarine, or if it was due to a mine.

And then we have the Olympic and the Titanic. They look identical,” Mia continues in the video. “The Olympic was on the water for a while. She was reaching for retirement and they knew that. They were like ‘well it was a lot of money to make the Titanic, and it’s gonna be even more money to repair the Olympic. So what if we just sent the Olympic out instead, sank that hoe, claim some insurance money and then just scrap the Titanic like it was the Olympic for some spare parts.”

Mia believes no one really knew what the interior of the Titanic actually looked like, except for the people who built it — suggesting that it would have been easy to flip the two.

“Who would’ve known? No one would’ve known,” she says.

Mia then describessome notable people who decided last-minute not to get on the Titanic, including J.P. Morgan — the prominent banker, and who was ironically the owner of the White Star Line.

Milton Hershey, of the famed Hershey’s chocolate brand, also didn’t get on the Titanic despite having already paid the deposit. Instead he went on the Amerika, a German liner, because the businessman was needed sooner than previously expected at his chocolate factory.

Mia does not mention, however, the Vanderbilts — who also made the last-minute decision not to go on the Titanic.

“Were they told not to because they knew it was going to f***ing sink anyways?” Mia asks, also noting that the number of portholes were not matching up.

“The Titanic has 14 portholes on the side of it, and the Olympic had 16. Well magically, by the Grace of God, by the Grace of Jesus, the Titanic had 16 portholes on the side of it the day that it left. They just tack two more on for funsies? No.”

Lastly, her argument supporting the theory fell to the two boats that were nearby — the SS Californian, which is thought to have been the only ship to see the Titanic, or at least its rocket — but took no action to assist.

Instead, it was the Carpathia, which arrived 2 hours after the Titanic had already sunk to assist any remaining survivors.

“We don’t know where she [SS Californian] went, but it was not the Titanic,” Mia says. “The Carpathia did. The Carpathia was multiple hours away and by the time it got there, the ship would’ve been gone, the ship would’ve already sank. Convenient.”

“Also every single time they advertise the Titanic, they use the Olympic’s pictures. They took pictures of the inside of the Olympic and used it as advertising.”

“I’m not wrong.”

In response, people were convinced.

“I did not have a titanic conspiracy on my 2023 bingo card 😳” one person replied to the video.

“It was planned.. Ex: JP Morgan had more than one rival on the Titanic. He pulled out and they died, thus making his business successful,” another person said adding to the conspiracy.

California Democrats consider wealth tax — including for people who moved out of state

January 23, 2023

California lawmakers are pushing legislation that would impose a new tax on the state’s wealthiest residents — even if they’ve already moved to another part of the country.

Assemblyman Alex Lee, a progressive Democrat, last week introduced a bill in the California State Legislature that would impose an extra annual 1.5% tax on those with a “worldwide net worth” above $1 billion, starting as early as January 2024.

As early as 2026, the threshold for being taxed would drop: those with a worldwide net worth exceeding $50 million would be hit with a 1% annual tax on wealth, while billionaires would still be taxed 1.5%.

Worldwide wealth extends beyond annual income to include diverse holdings such as farm assets, arts and other collectibles, and stocks and hedge fund interest.

The legislation is a modified version of a wealth tax approved in the California Assembly in 2020, which the Democrat-led state Senate declined to pass.

The current version just introduced includes measures to allow California to impose wealth taxes on residents even years after they left the state and moved elsewhere.

Exit taxes aren’t new in California. But this bill also includes provisions to create contractual claims tied to the assets of a wealthy taxpayer who doesn’t have the cash to pay their annual wealth tax bill because most of their assets aren’t easily turned into cash. This claim would require the taxpayer to make annual filings with California’s Franchise Tax Board and eventually pay the wealth taxes owed, even if they’ve moved to another state.

California lawmakers pushing the wealth tax think they can “get around” the problem of residents leaving “by trying to tax people even after they leave the state,” said Patrick Gleason, vice president of state affairs at Americans for Tax Reform. However, he, Gray and Walczak all questioned the legality of such an approach or labeled it outright unconstitutional.

Feel good story of the day

Octaviano Juarez-Corro found dead in jail

MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee man who landed on the FBI’s top 10 most wanted list after he allegedly killed two people and wounded three others at a 2006 Memorial Day picnic has been found dead in his jail cell.

Octaviano Juarez-Corro was found unresponsive in his cell in the Milwaukee County Jail around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Authorities said he was in a single-occupant cell and there were no obvious signs of trauma or injury.

Prosecutors have alleged Juarez-Corro was in divorce proceedings with his wife when he showed up uninvited at the picnic in a Milwaukee park along the Lake Michigan shoreline to confront her. After being told he couldn’t see his 3-year-old daughter, he opened fire. His wife was hit twice but survived.

He was placed on the FBI’s top 10 most wanted list in 2021. He was finally captured in Zapopan, Guadalajara, Mexico, in February 2022 thanks to a tip and extradited to Milwaukee this past September.

He faced two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and three counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. He had been held on $1.5 million bail since October.
