UK Government to End COVID Booster Shots for Healthy People Under 50

The government of the United Kingdom officially declared that it would no longer require healthy people under the age of 50 to receive COVID booster doses.

As the UK begins to recover from the pandemic, the universal Covid vaccine program will be phased out this year.

“As the transition continues away from a pandemic emergency response towards pandemic recovery, the [Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation] JCVI has advised that the 2021 booster offer (third dose) for persons aged 16 to 49 years who are not in a clinical risk group should close in alignment with the close of the autumn 2022 booster vaccination campaign,” the government said in a news release Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Brits under the age of 50 were urged to get their free booster shot before the program is discontinued.

John Kirby Fields Questions on Biden Classified Documents Scandal After Karine Jean-Pierre Fails to do Her Job

John Kirby to the rescue.

Joe Biden’s affirmative action hire Karine Jean-Pierre has dodged questions on Biden’s classified documents scandal and stonewalled reporters for nearly two weeks.

So John Kirby (former Pentagon spox) had to come into the press briefing room to do Karine Jean-Pierre’s job for her.

John Kirby actually answered some questions!

Peter Doocy: “John, how hard is it to walk out of a SCIF with classified material?”

“Everybody who goes in to a SCIF knows what the requirements are. To go in, and knows what the requirements are to go out. You can’t bring personal devices in and you certainly can’t leave with material unless that material is appropriately secured,” Kirby said.

“And usually what happens to someone…if they do leave with a piece of classified material that they are not supposed to have, or that is not secured?” Peter Doocy asked.

“I think — if you do it inadvertently or you do it and realize…you self-report, which is exactly [Biden] did”

Another reporter asked John Kirby if the system needs reform after Biden was caught with stolen classified documents at his private office and home.

“The president…he takes the treatment of classified materials seriously…You have to do that. We all know what the rules are. We follow the rules.”

Demonic: Madonna Criticized for “Mocking Jesus” with “Blasphemous” Last Supper Photoshoot and Portraying Virgin Mary for Vanity Fair

“She makes herself up, transforms, gets on the table, challenges bullfighters, reenacts the Last Supper… In this spectacular portfolio for Vanity Fair, Madonna revisits her status as a pop star, between creative madness and religious provocation, like her an exceptional career,” the magazine wrote.

The singer also recreated “The Last Supper,” in which she posed as Jesus with a group of 12 disciples.

Olivier Bouchara, head of Editorial Content for Vanity Fair France said, “In this very special issue, Madonna becomes Madonna again: an icon. Not just the embodiment of a musical trend or a style of dress, but a figure as disturbing as she is sacred.”

The singer defends her blasphemy in the Vanity Fair edition, saying that she mirrored the “teachings of Jesus” and that her critics in the Catholic Church are “hypocrites.”

“Take a good look at the image: I am crowned, dressed in a sumptuous robe and I stand on an altar. Do you know what state of mind I was in? I felt left to graze, weakened. It was just a photo, taken in the studio, yet it brought me back to Rome, when I was harshly criticized by the Vatican. I grew up in a Catholic family, and being attacked by the Church was a shock: with my job, I was just trying to do good, but they eluded them. I knew right away that the problem was with them, not me. They hadn’t understood that my songs brought people together, that they gave them the freedom to express themselves. I was just applying the teachings of Jesus. My detractors were hypocrites,” Madonna told Vanity Fair’s Simone Marchetti during an interview.

This is not the first time Madonna has sparked outrage for her anti-Christian antics. 32 years ago Madonna came under attack following the release of her “Like a Prayer” video where Madonna is seen singing in front of burning crosses, in a church with a children’s choir and in moments of erotic embrace with an African-American religious figure.

The blasphemous cover was released as the 64-year-old singer revealed that she will be embarking on a tour across both the United States and Europe to celebrate her fortieth year working in the music industry.

This comes after it was reported that Universal Pictures would no longer be producing a biopic about Madonna, Variety reported.

US Should Be More Conciliatory To China: Bill Gates

Gates praised the Asian country’s economic growth.

“I see China’s rise as a huge win for the world … the current mentality of the U.S. to China—and which is reciprocated—is kind of a lose-lose mentality,” he told the Lowy Institute in Sydney, Australia on Jan. 23.

“That could be very self-fulfilling in a very negative way,” said Gates, noting it could impact medical research and progress on climate change.

“We’re all in this together. We’re humans. We innovate together and we have to change the modern industrial economy together in a pretty dramatic fashion,” the Microsoft founder said, in comments obtained by AAP.

As Gates maintains hopes for China’s role in pushing forward humanity, the Chinese Communist Party continues to face scrutiny for its reporting and transparency around COVID-19 infection and death figures, with the Chinese state claiming a number over 60,000 deaths from the most recent outbreak.

This figure has even prompted the state’s lead propagandist, Hu Xijin, to question the data.

“The actual COVID-19 death toll in China since early December is definitely more than 60,000 because the official data only counted deaths at hospitals,” he wrote on Twitter.

Peter Zhang, a researcher in the political economy of Asia, pointed to other figures which suggest a vastly different picture.

“A report by UK-based analytics company Airfinity estimated 3.7 million COVID-19 infections and 25,000 COVID-19 deaths in a single day on Jan. 13, bringing the total death toll to 584,000 since Dec. 7, 2022,” he wrote in The Epoch Times.

“That data, experts fear, is just the tip of the iceberg. Some estimated that the death toll could reach 200 million to 400 million people, given the growing infection rate.”

More Collaboration Between WHO and Governments: Gates

Meanwhile, Gates praised Australian authorities for keeping infection rates low.

“Some of the things that stand out are that Australia and about seven other countries did population scale diagnostics early on and had quarantine policies … that meant you kept the level of infection low in that first year when there were no vaccines,” he said.

He also called for closer collaboration between governments and the World Health Organisation to deal with future pandemics.

Russian tennis fans detained after provocative political statement

Russian fans attending Novak Djokovic’s demolition of Andrey Rublev at the Australian Open have been detained by police at Melbourne Park after allegedly threatening security.

A fan brandishing a flag bearing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s image is among four people police are interviewing following the incident outside Rod Laver Arena.

The group of fans gathered on the stairs between two of Australia’s iconic tennis stadiums, Rod Laver and Margaret Court Arenas, to make a provocative political statement.

Supporters have flouted policies banning Russian and Belarusian flags from the grounds of Melbourne Park since the tournament began on January 16.

But the incident on Wednesday night, in which the group of four men brandished flags with Russian insignia with one bearing the image of Putin, is the most serious breach yet.

“Four people in the crowd leaving the stadium revealed inappropriate flags and symbols and threatened security guards,” a Tennis Australia spokesperson said.

“Victoria Police intervened and are continuing to question them. The comfort and safety of everyone is our priority and we work closely with security and authorities.”

Tennis Australia moved to ban patrons from bringing Russian or Belarusian flags or insignia into Melbourne Park after they caused offence in the initial stages of the grand slam.

“Our initial policy was that fans could bring them in but could not use them to cause disruption. Yesterday we had an incident where a flag was placed courtside,” Tennis Australia said last week.

“We will continue to work with the players and our fans to ensure the best possible environment to enjoy the tennis.”

Zelensky appears on Russian TV

TV broadcasts in Russia’s southwest were briefly disrupted by an address from the Ukrainian president

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky made a surprise appearance on Russian TV on Wednesday, when digital broadcasts were disrupted in an apparent hacker attack across southwestern regions of the country.

TV viewers in Belgorod Region, as well as in Crimea, reported that their viewing was interrupted by an address from Zelensky, who was speaking Ukrainian. It lasted for about a minute before programs continued as scheduled.

Crimean officials blamed the incident on a hacker attack, pointing fingers at Ukraine’s intelligence services and their "mischief."

"Facing a deplorable situation at the frontlines, the Ukrainian special services resort to hacking into Internet broadcasting and displaying their Zelensky clown. At the same time, on-air broadcasting on TV channels has been going on and is going on as usual," a media adviser to the Crimean government, Oleg Kryuthckov, told RIA Novosti.

Belgorod authorities, however, were not that quick to assign blame, stating that a probe into the incident has been launched. The disruption affected satellite broadcasts, according to the press service of the regional government. Operators had to re-direct the signal from a backup satellite to flush out Zelensky’s address, it added.

Assorted disruptions of TV broadcasts have repeatedly occurred amid the ongoing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, affecting both sides of the ongoing conflict. One of the most notable incidents of this kind happened last June, when two Ukrainian sports channels showed an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin instead of a World Cup football match.

Backlash over call to pay weekly rent to Indigenous Australians

Pauline Hanson has led the charge for the backlash against a call for homeowners to pay a “weekly rent” to Indigenous Australians.

A campaign calling for non-Indigenous Australian property owners to pay a “weekly rent” to traditional landowners has been met with staunch opposition, with One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson leading the charge against the move.

The scheme, Pay The Rent, would work as a voluntary weekly payment to a body led by Aboriginal elders and managed without interference from the government.

The program, which has been quietly operating in Victoria, encourages non-Indigenous people to pay a percentage of their income to Aboriginal people out of respect for their ancestral land claims.

“Decisions about the distribution of money paid into this fund will be made exclusively by a Sovereign Body, composed of Aboriginal people from a range of clans and nations,” the Pay The Rent website states.

“That is, the money always and only belongs to Aboriginal people.”

Feminist author Clementine Ford and Greens senator and activist Lidia Thorpe are among high-profile identities who have voiced their support for the scheme.

However, the suggestion has also been met with harsh backlash, with Senator Hanson going as far as pushing others to sign a petition to “Stop the Rent Tax”.
