I noticed this article the other week, but, at the time it didn't mean much. Maybe it has some relevance since Whitmer could use the Michigan Air National Guard to deliver in exchange for more jets.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Thursday sent a letter to the U.S. Secretary of the Air Force urging the Air Force to invest in a fighter mission at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
Whitmer wrote Secretary Frank Kendall III about the Air Force’s gradual replacement of the A-10 Warthog fighter jets, some of which are kept at the Harrison Township base, with a training center for the newer F-35 fighter jet as well as older F-16 fighter jet currently planned for an air base in Arkansas, with Selfridge as an alternate site.
