At this point I'd believe anything.
The iPhone 6 I use takes the original photo in PNG, and also the screen shot of the original photo in PNG. (The screenshot is what provides those black bands at top and bottom.)
Here's what bugs me, though. The original photo is 2mb. The screenshot weighs in at 600KB!
Something is absolutely embedded.

Just read what the other anon posted about jpg and png. I was mailing these to myself to determine size. It converts them to jpg for that. If I were downloading them, the originals would be jpg I think.
Yes. The screenshots are a much lower resolution than the originals. Couldn't print them without pixelation,etc.
Yet, the Q photos with those black bands can be 6MB or even more.
Does the black have to potential to hold more data in steganography?
The compressed file is larger than the original?
Try unzipping the ORIGINAL file. I've read that can hold things sometimes. Just don't have a setup that will let me do it.

I did. Nothing. But I'm not at all familiar and might be doing it incorrectly.
I have tried running most of them through traditional steganography sites using the passwords Free and Freedom (also free freedom FREE FREEDOM) and haven't had any luck.
Plan to start from the beginning, figure out how they uncovered the original dots and lines from Freedom_.png. Then look at the images of the dump truck from behind the train photo.
It's going to take a long long time to find it all. I wasn't here back then.
It came in as a gif but it never gifs for me.
