Government is Americans’ top problem — poll
Both Republicans and Democrats agreed Washington was worse than inflation and immigration issues
Americans believe the top problem facing the US is its government, a Gallup poll published on Monday revealed.Over a fifth (21%) of poll respondents named poor leadershipas the most serious issue, outstripping even inflation, which fell to second place with just 15% of votes.
In a rare show of bipartisan unity, 24% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, along with 18% of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents agreed thatgovernment incompetence topped the list.
Inflation was number two on the mind of both parties — 18% of Republicans listed it as the top issue, compared to 11% of Democrats. Another 18% of Republicans were more focused on immigration, an issue which fell to a distant 6th place among Democrats.
Economic confidence remains at rock bottom, with just 2% of respondents describing conditions as “excellent” and 15% believing they are “good.” Nearly half (45%) think conditions are “poor,” while 38% rate them “fair.” The vast majority — 72% — see things getting even worse, though an optimistic 22% see the US’ economic fortunes improving.
Despite their generally dismal economic outlook, 64% of poll respondents said it was “a good time to find a quality job in the US.” The pollster’s Economic Confidence Index, computed based on respondents’ view of the economy now and predicted trends, remains underwater at -39, though it has improved slightly since peak inflation last summer.
Approval ratings for President Joe Biden and Congress remained constant at 41% and 21%, respectively. Polling was conducted during the first three weeks of this month, during which Americans witnessed House Republicans’ repeated failure to elect a Speaker and watched Biden’s spokespeople struggle to explain the growing pile of classified documents discovered in his various properties.
In a Gallup poll conducted earlier this month, nearly four out of five respondents predicted “economic difficulty,” while nine in ten said they expected more “political conflict.” Other popular predictions included price increases, a decline in American power, and a jump in crime rates.

The US president said the same thing he used to say about tanks
The US won’t send F-16 fighter jets to Kiev, President Joe Biden said on Monday, commenting on media reports that the Pentagon was considering it. He had previously said that sending tanks to Ukraine would mean World War Three, only to change his mind last week.
“No,” Biden told reporters outside the White House, when asked about the F-16s.
According to Politico, however, some US military officials are “quietly pushing the Pentagon to approve” sending the jets to Kiev. The outlet quoted a Defense Department official and “two other people involved” in the discussions.
“I don’t think we are opposed,” the unnamed official told the outlet, but added that no final decision has been made. Asked about the issue, White House referred to deputy national security adviser Jon Finer, who told MSNBC last week that the US will be discussing fighter jets “very carefully” and that Washington and its allies “have not ruled in or out any specific systems.”
Biden addressed the question while talking about a possible trip to Poland in the near future. Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki said earlier in the day that Warsaw would supply Kiev with F-16s, but only “in full coordination”with NATO, while France refused to rule outsending some of its own jets as well.
Poland had led the charge on sending Western-made tanks to Kiev, something Biden had previously described as too provocative.
“The idea that we’re going to send in offensive equipment and have planes and tanks and trains going in with American pilots and American crews — just understand, don’t kid yourself, no matter what y’all say, that’s called World War III,” he told House Democrats gathered in Philadelphia in March 2022.
Last week, however, he announced the delivery of 31 Abrams tanks to the government in Kiev – just days after Politico reported this would not happen, citing well-informed Pentagon sources. Information leaked to Reuters and the Wall Street Journal – that the Abrams will be promised to clear the way for Germany to approve Leopard 2 deliveries – turned out to be correct instead.
Russia has repeatedly warned the West against supplying Ukraine with weapons, arguing that it would only prolong the conflict. Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said last week that continued deliveries serve as further proof that Western countries are directly involved in the hostilities.

Ukraine will never retake Crimea – EU state’s president
Sending weaponry to Kiev only prolongs the conflict and risks escalation, Croatia’s Zoran Milanovic has argued
Increasingly lethal military aid to Ukraine from NATO powers is “deeply immoral” and will only extend Kiev’s bloody conflict with Russia, causing more casualties and heightening the risk of nuclear war in a pointless pursuit of absurd goals, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic has claimed.
“I am against sending any lethal weapons there,” Milanovic told reporters at a briefing in Petrinja, south of Zagreb. “It’s only prolonging the war. What’s the goal? Carving up Russia? Regime change? They’re talking about partitioning Russia.This is madness.”
Milanovic made his comments after the governments of Germany and the US last week announced that they had decided to send battle tanks to Ukraine. Moscow has warned that such aid creates a greater risk of escalation, especially if Western weapons are used to strike Russian cities or try to seize Russian territory. Nevertheless, Washington and its top NATO allies have pledged to continue arming Ukraine for as long as it takes to win the conflict – however Kiev defines victory.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has vowed to retake all lost territories, including Crimea, which became part of Russia following the overthrow of Kiev’s elected government in 2014. Milanovic argued that Crimea “will never be Ukraine” – a point on which even Germany’s generals agree.
“This is deeply immoral, what we’re doing, the collective West,” the Croatian president said. “German tanks will just unite the Russians, and China. My goal is to distance ourselves [Croatia] from it, to not be circus dogs. Any kind of participation in this is deadly dangerous.”
Milanovic said efforts to provoke conflict with Russia had been ongoing since 2014, “and a war broke out.” He warned that NATO leaders shouldn’t assume that they can treat Russia like Serbia, which the Western bloc bombed in 1999 amid violence in Kosovo. The breakaway province later declared its independence from Serbia.
“Please understand Russia is not the same as Serbia,” Milanovic said. “That’s a painful fact, and dangerous. We annexed Kosovo, us and the international community. It was taken from Serbia. Did we not do it? Did we not recognize Kosovo? Oh it’s not an annexation, it’s a seizure? Whatever. This isn’t about Kosovo, but about the concept.”

Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, founded The Representation Project nonprofit to fight "sexism through films education, research and activism." Siebel Newsom writes and directs "gender identity" films produced through her for-profit operation, Girls Club Entertainment, that are then licensed by the nonprofit to public schools.
The films, which include "Miss Representation," "The Mask You Live In," "The Great American Lie" and "Fair Play," are licensed to taxpayer-funded schools across every state and sometimes contain sexually explicit imagery and push students to feel "shame and sorrow" about American society split by privilege and oppression. They are paired with curricula that include discussion on Gov. Newsom's comments within the films, urging them to gather their friends and vote for aligned politicians that support a "care economy" that "embraces universal human values."
"The Representation Project's films and school curricula deserve scrutiny because taxpayers fund schools that license them," said Open The Books founder Adam Andrzejewski, whose watchdog group discovered the materials and shared them with Fox News Digital.
"Newsom's films and curricula are saturated with images lifted directly from pornographic websites, their URLs visible onscreen," Andrzejewski added. "Minors are exposed to social commentaries about privilege and oppression, and one commentator says Americans need to 'express shame and sorrow about who we are and what we've done' as a society."
"When paired with calls to organize and spread the films more widely, it's clear that Siebel Newsom seeks to activate students politically and in accordance with some radical ideologies about gender, identity, race and privilege," Andrzejewski said.
Siebel Newsom's films promote far-left notions of gender and sexuality and, at points, contain sexually explicit images. The content has led to objections from at least one parent.
In 2019, a California resident filed a complaint after his 12-year-old daughter's class at Creekside Middle School showed "The Mask You Live In," which "follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America's narrow definition of masculinity." It included sexually explicit images and violence against women in a portion of the movie dealing with Internet pornography.
"Some of the images, when slowed down, were not blurred, and even when they are blurred, it is obvious what is going on," the father told The Sacramento Bee. "It is absolutely profane and disgusting."
The school later found that the teacher had accidentally played the film's full version for the class, not the edited version meant for younger children.
Additionally, Siebel Newsom's films and the Representation Project's lesson plans heavily push gender identity. In the curriculum that comes with "The Mask You Live In," a "genderbread person" is introduced, which shows middle and high school students how biological sex, "gender expression," "sexual attraction" and "gender identity" exist on a spectrum and can be mixed and matched.
Kindergartners do not receive the "genderbread person" material, but similar "gender identity" lessons are offered, which include gender introductions beyond "boy" and "girl."
In the curriculum for "The Great American Lie,"which "examines the roots of systemic inequalities through a unique gender lens," students are asked to do a "privilege walk" that includes revealing personal information to compare themselves to peers inside and outside the classroom. The "privileges" include being "a cisgender man," "white," "born in the United States," "straight" and speaking English as a first language.…
