Tennis Player Victoria Azarenka Calls Out Media Member For Pushing Political Agenda

Belarusian Tennis Player Has Enough Of Leftist Media’s Political Questions – “What’s The Goal Here?”

The reporter started by asking Azarenka if she had any opinions on Novak Djokovic’s father being photographed with a group of pro-Russian supporters during the week and her thoughts on the pro-Russian storyline.

“There’s been a lot of scrutiny about a lot of the Russian and Belarusian players here,” the reporter said. “Is it difficult for you when you go out there to put all those things out of your mind? Do you think there are other players who get impacted by it?”

Azarenka pushed back on the question not by answering but by addressing the reporter and similar media members directly.

“I don’t know what you guys want us to do about it,” Azarenka said. “I don’t know what’s the goal here, that it’s continuously brought up.”

Azarenka continued, “These incidents that, in my opinion, have nothing to do with players. But somehow you keep dragging players into it. So what’s the goal here? I think you should ask yourself that question. Not me.”

“Are You A Politician?”

Rather than answering the tennis player, the reporter asked why she got frustrated with the question — showing just how out of touch with focusing on sports the journalist truly was.

“Whatever the answer, I’m going to give it to you right now, it’s going to be turned whichever way you want to turn it to,” Azarenka responded. “So does it bother me? What bothers me is there are real things that are going on in the world. And I don’t know. Are you a politician? Are you covering politics?”

“No, I’m a sports journalist,” the reporter answered.

“Yes. And I’m an athlete. And you’re asking me about things that maybe somebody says are in my control. But I don’t believe that. So I don’t know what you want me to answer. And if it’s a provocative question, then, you know, you can spin the story however you want.”

Though the sports media may flip this story on Azarenka to make her seem combative or rigid in her answer, it was a prime example of an athlete flipping the script rather than conforming to a journalist’s agenda.

It’s refreshing to watch an athlete, who will always hold the upper hand in a press session, push back with honesty.

"It's Time For The Scientific Community To Admit We Were Wrong About COVID & It Cost Lives"

Real "mea culpa", ongoing and rapid revision of history, or further narrative management with regard 'amnesty' over what "the others" did to those who thought for themselves over the last few years…

You decide…

In no less a liberal rag than Newsweek, Kevin Bass (MS MD/PHD Student, Medical School) has penned a quite surprising (and 'brave') op-ed saying that "it's time for the scientific community to admit we were wrong about COVID and it cost lives…"

[ZH: emphasis ours]

As a medical student and researcher, I staunchly supported the efforts of the public health authorities when it came to COVID-19.

I believed that the authorities responded to the largest public health crisis of our lives with compassion, diligence, and scientific expertise. I was with them when they called for lockdowns, vaccines, and boosters.

I was wrong. We in the scientific community were wrong. And it cost lives.

I can see now that the scientific community from the CDC to the WHO to the FDA and their representatives, repeatedly overstated the evidence and misled the public about its own views and policies, including on natural vs. artificial immunity, school closures and disease transmission, aerosol spread, mask mandates, and vaccine effectiveness and safety, especially among the young. All of these were scientific mistakes at the time, not in hindsight. Amazingly, some of these obfuscations continue to the present day.

But perhaps more important than any individual error was how inherently flawed the overall approach of the scientific community was, and continues to be. It was flawed in a way that undermined its efficacy and resulted in thousands if not millions of preventable deaths.

What we did not properly appreciate is that preferences determine how scientific expertise is used, and that our preferences might be—indeed, our preferences were—very different from many of the people that we serve. We created policy based on our preferences, then justified it using data. And then we portrayed those opposing our efforts as misguided, ignorant, selfish, and evil.

We made science a team sport, and in so doing, we made it no longer science. It became us versus them, and "they" responded the only way anyone might expect them to: by resisting.

We excluded important parts of the population from policy development and castigated critics, which meant that we deployed a monolithic response across an exceptionally diverse nation, forged a society more fractured than ever, and exacerbated longstanding heath and economic disparities.

Biden administration considering whether to declare abortion restrictions public health emergency

Such a declaration would make resources to get an abortion more accessible.

The Biden administration is reportedly considering a plan to declare abortion restrictions a public health emergency.

The declaration would make resources to get an abortion more accessible, according to a report from the news outlet Axios.

President Biden and his administration's Department of Health and Human Services have been pushed by Democrat lawmakers and pro-abortion advocates to make such a declaration since the Supreme Court last summer overturned Roe v. Wade, ending the constitutional right to abortion.

"There are discussions on a wide range of measures that we can take to try to protect people's rights," Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra told Axios.

"There are certain criteria that you look for to be able to declare a public health emergency. That's typically done by scientists and those that are professionals in those fields who will tell us whether we are in a state of emergency and based on that, I have the ability to make a declaration."

However, he also said a "full assessment" has already been made on what such a declaration would look like.

New Mexico DA officially charges Alec Baldwin with manslaughter over 'Rust' shooting

Baldwin previously settled with Hutchins' family and has moved to complete production of the film.

Authorities officially pressed manslaughter charges against actor Alec Baldwin over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while on the set for the film "Rust."

Hutchins sustained a fatal gunshot wound on Oct. 21, 2021, when Baldwin fired a loaded gun. Film armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is also facing charges in the incident.

Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed each face felony counts of involuntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act, the New York Post reported. Neither will be arrested in connection with the charges.

The Tuesday filing merely represents the formal follow through of First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies's promise to file such charges, which she made earlier this month. Baldwin's lawyers have decried the charges as a "miscarriage of justice."

Baldwin previously settled with Hutchins' family and has moved to complete production of the film. Hutchins' widower, Matthew Hutchins, will receive an executive producer credit and has blessed the film's completion.

Australia imposes sanctions on senior Iranian military and leaders of Myanmar's military junta

The Australian government has imposed sanctions on senior Iranian military and government officials, as well as the leaders of Myanmar's military junta.

Key points:

The travel bans and asset freezes target 16 Iranians including the commander-in-chief of the nation's army

A Senate committee is expected to recommend Australia list Iran's brutal Islamic Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organisation

Australia had faced criticism for its reluctance to join international sanctions against Myanmar's junta

Among the 16 Iranians targeted by the travel bans and asset freezes is the commander-in-chief of the nation's army, Major General Sayyed Abdolrahim Mousavi.

The government said those hit with sanctions "have engaged in, been responsible for, or been complicit in, serious violations or serious abuses of human rights in Iran".

The listings cover serious violations or serious abuses of the right to life and the right not to be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment," the sanctions notice explained.

"These relate to the oppression of women in enforcing the Islamic dress code and violent suppression of peaceful protests in Iran."

The sanctions comes just hours before a Senate committee, which has been investigating human rights abuses in Iran, is expected to recommend Australia list Iran's brutal Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation.

"The Australian government has already taken strong action against the IRGC under our sanctions framework," a spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement.

"The Attorney-General's Department has advised that it is not possible to list the IRGC as a terrorist organisation under the criminal code."

Myanmar junta leader also sanctioned

Two years after the military coup in Myanmar, Australia has also imposed sanctions on 16 officials from the ruling junta.

They include Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the junta's leader, and his deputy Soe Win.

"These sanctions allow a targeted response to Australia's concerns about serious violations of human rights committed by the military regime and ongoing efforts to suppress the rights of the civilian population through violence and coercion," the government said.

Australia had faced years of criticism from human rights advocates, due to its reluctance to join international sanctions against the junta.

The hesitation appeared to be due to the imprisonment of Australian man Sean Turnell, who had been working as an adviser to ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi when the military junta arrested him after its coup in February 2021.
