McGovern: Can anyone explain why Putin is not mentioned [in the resolution to denounce socialism] as one of the bad leaders that should be condemned?

Roy: Ranking Member Waters, in a 2008 hearing, you said, "And guess what this liberal will be all about. This liberal will be all about socializing. Would be about basically taking over the government, and the government running all of your companies." Do you stand by that statement?
Waters: Simple Answer…I am here today, in this rules committee, because we're taking up time with basically a non-issue….I am not a socialist.
Roy: A great example [of corporations grinding over the American people] is Pfizer and Moderna making a hundred billion dollars on the back of the environment right now today, where there are government mandates with pharmaceutical companies, with liability protections, making hundreds of billions of dollars, without any liability constraints…government, corporate cronyism, and collusion, with major pharmaceutical companies, that are grinding right over the American people's ability to take care of themselves.
Waters: I don't know everything that you're talking about when you talk about socialism. There are things that you embrace that fall within that so-called socialism definition.
Langworthy: President Trump stated in his 2019 State of The Union address, stated that American would never be a socialist country. Do you agree or disagree with that statement?
Waters: President Trump said a lot of things. He said he thought Hitler had done some good things. For those of you who continue to embrace Trump, and whatever he said, whatever he did, I just reject all of that. Because President Trump has proved to be someone who is aligned with dictators. Who admire them. Who claims to be in love with them.
Langworths: So you reject the statement that America will never be a socialist country?
Waters: I reject the statement that Trump might say anything. And he is not to be taken seriously.
