reminds me of Thiel's recent speech at Oxford.
he's correct.
what is worse than transhumanist technology? developing just enough technology to allow for mass surveillance and control of the population, and stifling the rest of it (for the plebs, of course). that is, allowing a totalitarian state that has the means to enforce mass control; a better route is to outpace (((them))) and use tech to keep them at bay.
in essence, Thiel is just a realist (as am I).
how to ensure humanity doesn't off itself?
that's why this chapter in human history really is a spiritual awakening. only a spiritually grounded population can ensure that. has to go hand in hand.
the decisionmaking will be via "group conscience" of a spiritually enlightened population.
just like 8kun is a way to harness patriots' group conscience.
