‘Dr. Phil’ talk show to end after 21 seasons as McGraw charts new path
January 31, 2023
“Dr. Phil” is coming to an end this spring after 21 seasons, CBS Media Ventures announced Tuesday, emphasizing it was Dr. Phil McGraw’s decision to stop making new episodes.
But “Dr. Phil,” which explores controversial topics, has found itself mired in controversy as well. A year ago, nearly a dozen current and former employees of “Dr. Phil” spoke out to BuzzFeed, describing their workplace as “traumatizing” and a “war zone.” McGraw’s attorney, H. Patrick Morris, “categorically denie[d]” the allegations at the time.
Critics have also blasted McGraw for his “appallingly cruel” 2016 interview with actress Shelley Duvall; his post-show treatment of infamous guest Danielle “Bhad Bhabie” Bregoli; and his “betrayal” of Britney Spears when she struggled with mental health issues in 2008.

Hunter Biden paid assistant thousands off the books for filthy sex chats, texts show
January 31, 2023
WASHINGTON – Hunter Biden slipped his legal assistant thousands of dollars under the table while the two were in a sexual relationship over several months in 2018 and 2019, text messages recovered from the first son’s laptop show.
During this same period, Hunter, now 52, struggled with addiction to crack cocaine and had unrestricted access to his father’s Wilmington, Del. home, where classified documents from Joe Biden’s time as a senator and vice president were improperly stored.
The assistant, whom The Post is not naming, is one of at least four women who hooked up with Hunter while on his payroll — including his sister-in-law Hallie, her sister Liz Secundy, and baby mama Lunden Roberts — according to a report by right-wing nonprofit research group Marco Polo.
The first son kept images of him having sex with the assistant in or around June 2018 on his notorious “laptop from hell,” which was first brought to light by The Post in an explosive 2020 report.
The Marco Polo report states that the assistant received a regular salary from the Owasco firm between mid-June and early October of 2018. However, during the same period, the assistant also received wires from the firm totaling almost $45,000 with mysterious explanations — including “new hire,” “8k wage,” “10k golf member,” and “Pay.”
The transactions found their way into a so-called “Suspicious Activity Report” (SAR) filed with the Treasury Department by JP Morgan Chase and currently being sought by House Republicans. That same SAR also highlighted payments made by Hunter to people with ties to human trafficking or the adult entertainment industry.
“I love your hair and/Pretty much everything else,” Hunter wrote in a pair of messages before telling the assistant to “Show me how you play with yourself/When you’re all alone.”
“We can have a contest to see who c-ms first,” he offers in a follow-up. “If you win you get 100 and if I win I just win/Everyone wins in this game.”

Three Michigan rappers missing for 10 days after canceled performance in Detroit
January 31, 2023
Three Michigan rappers have been missing for 10 days since they were forced to suddenly cancel a show at a Detroit club, officials said.
Armani Kelly, Montoya Givens and Dante Wicker — who met each other in prison — were scheduled to perform at a party at the Lounge 31 bar in Motor City on Jan. 31 but their appearance was scrapped due to equipment failure. The three have not been seen or heard from since that night as multiple agencies have begun investigating.
“We just have a whole lot of unanswered questions that we’re trying to find the answer to,” Detroit Police Cmdr. Michael McGinnis told reporters on Monday. “The fact that the three of them are missing together is very concerning and very alarming for us.”
Kelly, 27, left his home in Oscoda, Michigan around 11 a.m. on Jan. 21 in a gray Chevrolet Equinox, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System database. He called family members around 5 p.m. when he arrived in Detroit — about 200 miles south of Oscoda — and said his show had been canceled.
Kelly told his family he was going to find another place to perform or visit with friends, according to the profile. Givens and Wicker were not yet listed on the NamUS database, however, Detroit Police Department confirmed to NBC News that missing person reports had been filed for both of them.
Lorrie Kemp, Kelly’s mother, filed a report the morning after his scheduled performance. She tracked down his truck with the vehicle’s tracking service to an apartment complex in Warren — about 15 miles north of Detroit. She canvassed the area herself and handed out flyers on Gratiot Street where Loung 31 is located.
According to Kemp, Kelly had picked up the other two men before the concert.
“It breaks my heart. I talked to Dante’s mother and girlfriend and do you know how guilty I feel that my son picked up these other two young men?” Kemp told WDIV.

Nikole Hannah-Jones’ ‘1619’ docuseries lies about American history — again
January 31, 2023
The New York Times’ 1619 Project selected Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, as a filming location for its new Hulu docuseries. In doing so, creator Nikole Hannah-Jones sought to bolster her project’s most troublesome claim — the assertion that British overtures toward emancipation impelled the American colonists into revolution, ultimately securing an independent United States.
In the past three years, the Times has grappled with the fallout from Hannah-Jones’ assertion, including the revelation that it ignored its own fact-checker’s warnings against printing the charge. The Times tempered its language to apply to “some of” the colonists, only to see it reasserted by Hannah-Jones in her public commentaries. Later, a related line about the Project’s goal of replacing 1776 with a “true founding” of 1619 disappeared without notice from the Times’ website.
The newspaper found itself in a balancing act between its writer’s uncompromising positions and the need to preserve credibility as it made a Pulitzer Prize bid with the series. But Hannah-Jones was not ready to abandon the claim at the center of her lead essay, and the first episode of the Hulu series makes that abundantly clear.

4 suspects in Haiti presidential slaying taken into US custody
January 31, 2023
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Four key suspects in the killing of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse were transferred to the United States for prosecution as the case stagnates in Haiti amid death threats that have spooked local judges, US officials announced Tuesday.
The suspects now in custody of the US government include James Solages, 37, and Joseph Vincent, 57, two Haitian-Americans who were among the first arrested after Moïse was shot 12 times at his private home near the capital of Port-au-Prince on July, 7 2021.
Also charged is Christian Emmanuel Sanon, an elderly pastor, doctor and failed businessman that authorities have identified as a key player. His associates have suggested he was duped by the real — and still unidentified — masterminds behind the assassination that has plunged Haiti deep into political chaos and unleashed a level of gang violence not seen in decades.
The fourth suspect was identified as Colombian citizen Germán Rivera García, 44, who is among nearly two dozen former Colombian soldiers charged in the case.

SUNY makes new racial equity class mandatory for graduation at all schools
January 31, 2023
tate Conservative Party chairman Jerry Kassar said the new SUNY curriculum is reminiscent of the debate raging over whether “critical race theory” should be taught in the lower grades.
“This is a woke, left wing agenda. It’s disturbing. It’s dangerous,” Kassar said.
“They’re treating everybody as having prejudice. It’s like a socialist, communist state. It’s unbelievable. These ideas are best addressed at home.”
Several other campuses across the country — Drake University, Brandeis University, Villanova University and the University of California system among them — have imposed similar racial equity programs.
Incoming freshmen at SUNY campuses will be required to pass a certified DEISJ course to graduate.
The diversity and equity curriculum was approved by SUNY under former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s then hand-picked chancellor James Malatras, a former aide.

MTA admits ‘we F-ed this one up’ over Georgia O’Keeffe typo at new Grand Central complex
January 31, 2023
For f’s sake!
An artwork installation at the MTA’s brand new, $11 billion train terminal extension for the Long Island Rail Road beneath the historic Grand Central complex misspelled the name of one of America’s most famous painters, Georgia O’Keeffe.
That’s one more ‘f’ than was included in her last namewhen it was spelled out beneath her famous quote — “One can’t paint New York as it is, but rather as it is felt” — on a wall panel mounted down on the mezzanine level deep inside of Grand Central Madison.
It’s the latest, and maybe the funniest, foible to affect the massive train hall, which was beset with so many delays and budget overruns it took more than two decades and $11 billion to finish — and raised painful questions about the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s management and competence in the process.

1Woman accused of killing doppelganger in bid to fake her own death
January 31, 2023
A woman in Germany has been accused of killing her doppelganger to fake her own death, with authorities claiming she sought out a victim on social media.
Last August, police in found a body covered in blood inside a Mercedes parked up in Ingolstadt, southern Germany.
The victim was initially named as Sharaban K, a German-Iraqi beautician from Munich, after her family identified the body.
However, a post mortem examination raised questions about the person’s identity, with the victim later confirmed as 23-year-old Khadidja O - an Algerian beauty blogger from Heilbronn, in the neighbouring German state of Baden-Württemberg.

Cheesecake, chicken soup and poison: How a dominatrix was charged with attempted murder
January 31, 2023
It’s like a thriller: From Russia — with poison.
Viktoria Nasyrova, 47, is on trial in Queens this week, charged with trying to kill her doppelganger with tranquilizer-laced cheesecake and chicken soup as part of a sinister identity-theft plot.
“She’s quite a manipulative person from what I can tell,” private investigator Herman Weisberg, who tracked down the Russian-born Nasyrova in Brooklyn, told The Post. “If you take all of these allegations and put them together, she’s a menace to society — there’s no other way around it.”
Nasyrova denied the poisoning in a previous interview with The Post. Her attorney, Christopher Hoyt, did not return messages seeking comment, but he told jurors Monday the charges against his client doesn’t match the former fugitive’s actions.
The international fugitive’s tale began in November 2014 when Nasyrova was caught on a traffic camera in Russia with the body of her neighbor, Alla Alekseenko, propped up in the passenger seat of her car. Alekseenko’s remains were later identified via dental records, Alekseenko’s daughter, Nadezda Ford previously told The Post.
“All that was left basically was a skull and bones,” Ford said. “No legs, no left hand … I couldn’t believe it.”

Raskin wants Trump and Pence visitor logs
If Biden has to show his then tit for tat ridiculousness
Democratic lawmaker demands Secret Service visitor logs from homes of Trump, Pence
January 31, 2023
Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin on Tuesday demanded the Secret Service provide the House Oversight Committee with visitor logs from the homes of former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence as the panel probes the mishandling of classified documents by top government leaders.
Raskin’s request matches that of panel Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), who earlier this month demanded information from the Secret Service on visitors to President Biden’s Delaware home following revelations that highly sensitive material from his time as vice president was found in the house and garage.
“Given that the U.S. Secret Service provided protection for Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence during the time they stored classified materials at their respective residences, the Committee is seeking information from your agency regarding who had access to former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and former Vice President Pence’s personal residence since leaving office,” Raskin, the ranking member on the Oversight Committee, wrote in the letter to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.
In the letter, Raskin gives the agency until Feb. 14 to comply with the request to turn over all documents and communications related to visitor information at Pence’s Carmel, Indiana home and Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club since Jan. 21, 2021.
Regarding visitor logs at Biden’s home, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi claimed earlier this month that the agency doesn’t “independently maintain our own visitor logs because it’s a private residence.” But he later admitted that “the Secret Service does generate law enforcement and criminal justice information records for various individuals who may come into contact with Secret Service protected sites.”
According to a Fox News report, the Secret Service “is prepared to provide available background information on vetted guests to Biden’s residence if requested by Congress.”

Memphis cops charged in Tyre Nichols murder hired after PD relaxed job requirements
Jan 28, 2023
At least two out of of five Memphis police officers charged with murder in the fatal beatdown of Tyre Nichols joined the force after the department relaxed its hiring requirements.
Tadarrius Bean and Demetrius Haley both joined the Memphis Police Department in Aug. 2020, NBC News reported, more than two years after the department dramatically loosened the education qualifications to become an officer.
Recruits no longer needed an associate’s degree or 54 college credit hours to join the force, and could get by with five years of work experience, Action 5 reported.
Loosening the required qualifications however means that the department is ultimately getting “less desirable” job candidates, Mike Alcazar, an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a retired NYPD detective, told The Post.
“They’re desperate. They want police officers,” Alcazar said. “They’re going through it, they check off some boxes, saying, ‘Ok, they’re good enough, get them on.”
The department showed signs of struggle with recruiting new police officers, offering $15,000 signing bonuses in 2021 and 2022, Fox 13 reported.

Scroll & Key? Plenty of Congressmen and Ambassadors on the alum roster, what little is published.
Scroll and Key was established by John Addison Porter, with aid from several members of the Class of 1842 (including Leonard Case Jr. and Theodore Runyon) and a member of the Class of 1843 (William L. Kingsley), after disputes over elections to Skull and Bones Society. Kingsley is the namesake of the alumni organization, the Kingsley Trust Association (KTA), incorporated years after the founding.
Lyman Hotchkiss Bagg wrote that "up until as recent a date as 1860, Keys had great difficulty in making up its crowd, rarely being able to secure the full fifteen upon the night of giving out its elections." However, the society was on the upswing: "the old order of things, however, has recently come to an end, and Keys is now in possession of a hall far superior…not only to Bones hall, but to any college-society hall in America."[3]

‘Gunther’s Millions’ doc reveals wild hoax, orgies behind ‘world’s richest dog’
January 31, 2023
OMG, too many keks
Gunther III was the stuff of legend.
The German Shepherd reportedly inherited somewhere between $400 and $500 million from a wealthy German countess named Karlotta Liebenstein in the early 1990s.
The story went that Liebenstein had lost her 26-year-old son to suicide, and having no other human in the world, left her vast fortune to a dog.
The press billed Gunther III as the richest pet in the world — and he lived the life.
In 2000, it was widely reported that Gunther had purchased Madonna’s Miami mansion for $7.5 million. Then, later in the decade, the pup supposedly bought a Tuscan villa and a nightclub and soccer team in Pisa.
There was steak, caviar, yachts, private jets, Lamborghinis and servants — including designated head caretaker Maurizio Mian — with plenty of media attention to boot.
“I wanted to be a tick on that dog’s ass for the rest of my life,” Lee Dahlberg, a spokesperson for Gunther, says in a new four-part Netflix docu-series, “Gunther’s Millions,” out Wednesday.
But Gunther’s fabulous life was a load of dog crap, the new series reveals.
There actually was no bereaved countess. Mian, a university professor with mental health problems, was an heir to a vast Italian pharmaceutical fortune.Looking to avoid paying taxes, his mother had funneled hundreds of millions of dollars to a reliable friend in Germany via Liechtenstein, a well-known tax haven, and the Bahamas.
When the friend fell ill and died in 1992, Mian came up with the idea in order to continue to escape the tax man: Leave all the money to a dog.
It was “low grade comedy,” financial crime expert Jack Bloom says in the docu-series.
Gunther III was just a dog that had once belonged to an old girlfriend of Mian’s.
Mian first used Gunther III in the mid-’90s to promote the drug Fosamax, claiming that it was the “miracle cure” for the German Shephard’s osteoporosis.
Once Gunther’s 15 minutes of fame in Italian media had wound down, Mian wouldn’t have it. So he pulled an even bigger stunt by purchasing Madonna’s waterfront Miami mansion in 2000 for $7.5 million under the Gunther Corporation name.
Mian then held castings to bring in a supergroup of models who would live in the mansion with Gunther and present the image of a lavish and happy lifestyle to obsessed paparazzi.
The rotating group of five gorgeous men and women — which included Mian’s ex-wife, Carla Riccitelli — were allegedly part of a bizarre and often sexual experiment conducted and fully funded by the “mad scientist” Mian, as Leturgie called him, and a physician.
Predicated on the lie that the countess had a wish after her son’s suicide to learn more about what makes people happy, Mian brought in a team of researchers to study and film those living in the mansion along with their interactions with Gunther.
According to the documentary, they were allegedly encouraged to freely have sex with one anotherwhile abiding by 13 commandments — such as that science is king and sexuality should be openly expressed —that were said to come from the countess herself.
“There were definitely some cultish elements to it,” Dumay said.
“[It was a] wild, orgy-esque, Caligula situation,” Dahlberg, who lived in the house at one point, says in the series.
