British actor (living in U.S.) Julian Sands, 65, was reported missing more than two weeks ago after he failed to return from a hike in the Mount Baldy region in Southern California.

Numerous searches for the actor have since been undertaken on foot and by air by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies.

Fellow actor Kevin Ryan said Sands is “the most advanced hiker I know” and would not go on a hike unprepared but that it is obvious “something has gone wrong” after the British actor’s disappearance in California’s San Gabriel Mountains.

“He is beyond experienced and I’m hoping that he’s tucked away somewhere and can pull through.”

Mr Sands, 65, disappeared on 13 January while hiking in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains, north of Los Angeles.

His brother Nick, who lives in Gargrave, North Yorkshire, said he had already said his "goodbyes".

Californian officials have been unable to locate the actor, saying deadly storms have hampered search efforts.

"I have come to terms with the fact he's gone and for me that's how I've dealt with it," Nick Sands said.

The other day, from the same rood top bar, so did a Harvard-educated private equity firm founder who had just one day before filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years. Though they were practicing Mormons when they married, the reporting doesn't address their more recent religious associations.
