The passive sonar gear in the Spruance-class destroyers were quite capable. The old towed arrays were considered trouble, too easy to chop the cables with the screws when manuevering. The SH-60s have given way to the newer more capable MH-60Rs. Helo borne dipping passive sonar and sonobouys carried make bubbleheads have a bad day
