you could say pull the trigger or even taking a shot in the dark
might not seem like such a bad idea but just kicking around an idea because i'm a straight shooter that rolls with the punches so i'll bite the bullet and hopefully not jump the gun but maybe it'll soften the blow on the rest of the bread to not beat a dead horse
