If you give a person PTSD (turn on their fight or flight response) and let them live with it long enough, you can basically brainwash them, turn off the response, and let them live the remainder of a fabricated life. This is an NPC. While the Amygdala is active, the brain's conception of time stops and is only focused on surviving the current situation. If the FoF response is not turned off, what ends up happening is the mind loses track of life events because it cannot organize memories chronologically, this is what you all think is schizophrenia/PTSD. The Internal Family Systems Model should explain this better if you're interested. Another way to look at this is the human mind ignores communications from other parts of the brain to focus on survival, and what ends up happening after time is the brain no longer recognizes these other parts of the brain as they attempt to desperately commnucate with our reptilian brain in it's FoF state.
